Pulsetap revived.

By Darth Sanguis, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I had given up on the PT when a new player in our group accidentally invented one that works pretty well in w7. He beat one of our more experienced players who was running a raddus fleet. This is a rework of what he ran. I plan on doing some testing myself.

Roll-intel-vader-devastator-CFBlue?

Why not QBT instead of xi7? You would increase your first shot chances notably I guess.

Not sure what SAd is going to do for you. Reasons behind leaving GT at home? I can see why the Cymoon doesn't bring them but the ISD-II?

Roll-Intel-Devastator-CF/Blue-Vader

Why would I Vader before adding all these dice?

X-i7s instead of QBTs
A.) No screed, extra blue is nice to increase chances but if it can't deliver a blue crit, I'd rather be sure to force the brace with IO
B.) As the tapper, it needs medium range, which may require full speed. (often does).QBTs have limited effect for fleets that move fast

Which SA?

Spinal Arms adds extra red, can always use, especially on a vader cymoon avenger

Strategic Adviser is very helpful for low activation fleets, ESPECIALLY pulsetaps, truth be told, I wish SA existed sooner would've made so many PTs so much easier lol

GTs may be reworked in, they were removed originally because the creator's objectives included Advanced gunnery, I don't like putting 112-120 extra points on the table like that in a dual ISD fleet, always makes one ISD worth dying for. As of now I'm keeping it off, I'm starting to feel like GTs makes people who run ISDs lazy, and I could use the points for a bid. 8 points is a fairly high bid locally, it'll catch anyone not TRYING to get first.

To get the blue die from devastator? No token spent not Dev

Good point.

Strategic adviser.

I find it useless in low activation fleets.

With him you have 4 activation. Almost every 4 activation fleet already have a big ship with SAd so you get nothing.

I mean of course from my pov which dictates being outactivated by 1 or 1000 makes no difference. ?

ah I gotcha, Yeah I could IO myself, but honestly their DF tokens are more valuable at that point than an extra die. especially if there's a brace.

Maybe if I was gunning at an mc30 or something that doesn't have a brace and OP would be more valuable on... but typically not

I've found it useful, not everyone runs it locally, and for the most part does it's job early game. MSUs with more than 6 activations are rare here. I would say fleets with more than 4 are even uncommon, so it comes in handy.

Pulse tap without Avenger??

Youd want htt with op for a pseudo-mon karren effect.

Pryce....

That was my thought too.... begging for pryce.

I'll throw her in for a build, test it out a few matches, but I think I may get more use out of strat adviser. 6 rounds of delay could be better depending on the line up, and with my avenger only needing long range to work well, I don't think it'll be too hard to keep them in range.

We'll see.

I think Bail and Pryce are a little easy to predict, kinda easy to avoid or plan for.

I dunno, with a 3 ship list and strat advisor if you take first you are still probably looking at -2 activations. Sure you get first, but with Pulsetap the problem becomes which ship? You want to pulse, and have something come into Avenger. Pryce helps make that combo count and maybe be able to set it up a turn earlier than you would normally get it.

Good point.

I'll test it out, see how it goes.
