REDLINE!!!!!

By Commander Kaine, in X-Wing

Redline+cluster missiles+saturation salvo+FCS...

Boost+lock into your face, and deliver two fully modded attacks.

That's a great opening. You can follow up with protontorps to mop up anything that remained.

I also commissioned a punisher artwork, will share updates on that as it comes along.

Yah, new Redline is super powerful. Both Punishers, in fact, got significant buffs over their 1e abilities, among the few ships we've seen so far to do so.

Making him I5 from PS7 is no small boost to a target lock dependent ship, either.

Does make me worry about cost though.

And also make me wonder what new pilots there might be in the reprint... I'm thinking someone who can treat objects at range 1 of objects he has locked, as locked (i.e. low PS, move up, lock a rock, dare people to land close to it), and someone who can spend extra charges on bombs to drop multiples using different templates.

They deserved it. Now comes an age of reckoning.

Something I'd love on the TIE Punisher: if an enemy is inside your [bullseye arc] at range 0-2 you may fire a torpedo or missile at that ship ignoring range and target lock requirements.

Maybe make it a unique talent card, call it Dumb Fire to avoid too much abuse... but ****, advanced protons at.range 2 would be insane (if they're still a thing... hard to keep up with everything)

@Commander Kaine Has 2nd ed. Saturation Salvo been revealed? Because the 1st ed. was... less than stellar.

It lets you spend charges from ordnance to reroll defense dice.

Oh yes.

Saturation Salvo (Talent, Reload) - While you perform a (torpedo) or (missile) attack, you may spend 1 (charge) from that upgrade. If you do, choose two defense dice. The defender must reroll those dice.

It's pretty sexy :)

I wish it was 'up to' two defense dice. If the defender rolls blank+evade the talent isn't that great.

Don't think about 1.0 action economy, because it's not what is it up against. I think often times, people won't have spare focus or evades, because ships will be forced to choose between actions now, much more than before.

That is a marked improvement however. And less wordy!

mmm... Saturation Salvo with Barrage Rockets seems appropriate and fun.

(well, may be better on multiple Bombers, as Locks aren't actually needed)

What remains after that opening salvo?

REDLINE!!!

AGAIN

Redline 44

FCS 3

Fifth Brother 12

Protorps 8

Cluster missiles 5

72 pts (36)

Gamma Sqd Veteran 30

Skilled bombardier (2)

Proton bombs (5) x2

42 pts (21) X3

198 pts.

Yeah punishers are stunningly cheap imo.

Punishers and Bombers both.

The Punisher is going to suffer, much as it did in 1e, from being just a more expensive bomber, for the most part.

Especially when Rhymer is an all-ranges beast for 34 points.

Well-costed Rhymer is gonna be a game-changer in 2.0.

I really like Advanced Sensors on Redline. Since his ability isn't an action, he can focus+lock then reveal a stall or a k-turn and still get a sweet double mod torpedo.

eh on FCS, already getting re-rolls from spending locks

gimme trajectory sims proton bombs to add to the alpha

sensors also cool

AS Deathrain is going to be just as good as 1e but a bunch cheaper.

I see no problem with this.

Fire Control System seems a bit overkill as he gets Locks to spend with no effort anyway. I'd go for Collision Detector so his medium base can just fly onto/through rocks at will.

Also Hull Upgrade for just 3 points(!) looks rather fine to me.

Cutlass Squadrons at 36 points seem good, but Scimitar Bombers are only 28 points and have better dials. I wish they had 3 missile slots so they could take Barrage Rockets and another missile.

Jendon and 3 Punishers? Could even fit Redline in there.
