Am I reading into that right? And Skilled Bombardier could possibly be used with a Trajectory Simulator TIE Bomber if it has a crew slot as would most likely be? If the tractor beam logic is right, it's going to be hilarious taking a Scyk with it, rolling three hits, and moving a Decimator that's not reinforced.
So it's going to be easier to tractor beam an unreinforced VCX-100 or Decimator then an A-Wing or TIE fighter?
Still easier to hit the TIE Fighter.
If you have a Focus, and assuming that the TIE Fighter also missed his action, you have a 72% chance of tagging him (Calculator) compared to the 42% chance you have of rolling 3 hits against the Deci (Calculator).
Edited by DR4COSounds proper, thematically speaking. Fast-moving craft are tough to get a lock on, but if you lock them they're done. Large craft are easier to lock, but still require more power to fully control.
I can't wait to barrel roll the ghost with sunny bounder. Achievement will be unlocked.
So you need 3 tractor/ion tokens to hit a VCX-100. So with a 3 firepower ion cannon that is impossible you are going to need 2. If Tractor beam works the same instead of just give 1 tractor token and discard at the end you will need 3 to move.

I doubt it has a system slot.

They haven't confirmed you can move large base ships.

They haven't officially, but you can make out the rules in Bell of Lost Soul's core set unboxing video (around the 22min mark). You can move large base ships after stacking 3 tokens on them.

The question is... can we move then backwards? That would be amazing

Negatory. Same options as the current rules (barrel roll or straight-1 boost).

Fair enough, I imagine large bases will be tractored exactly as they barrel roll themselves (e.g. short side)?
Targeting a large base with a tractor mathematically seems like a horrible option anyway.

Yep, and yep. The positional advantage you're gaining would have to be literally game winning to make it worth sacrificing the significant damage you could have pumped into the ship. Meme value only, I think.

Unless you have Dace Bonearm. But he can do it only once every 3 turns. And he is on a Hwk290.

That's not a bad thing anymore.
Tractor and ion are two different things
This thread looks like a nice example of Betteridge‘s law of headlines.
„So it's going to be easier to tractor beam an unreinforced VCX-100 or Decimator then an A-Wing or TIE fighter?“
No
It’s against the laws of physics, but i love that you can do it in soace wizard land!
Reinforce doesn't matter anyway.
Reinforce reduces damage taken to a minimum of 1.
Ion can only ever do 1 damage, and tractor does none. Reinforce has no effect on either.

How is it impossible? If you can fully mod your dice, it's very likely. The VCX-100 has no agility with which to block it. All you have to do is roll three hits.
It's even easier at range 1, because cannons get range 1 bonuses now. You'd be rolling 4 dice against no defence. It's very possible.

Oh right :/ So much for "posting from the hip while commuting" - brain failure, sorry.

Haha good call. I do appreciate meme value though.

Ion is another matter. Ion cannons and turrets still do damage. That is at least a little more valuable against a 0 agility large base ship.
The reinforce will not do anything vs the ion or tractor in 2.0. The reinforce action lets you reduce the damage by 1 to a minimum of 1 to one applicable half of your ship. Ion cannon/turret can only ever do 1 damage and tractor does none at all. It was only in 1.0 that the reinforce added an evade to your result.

Cannons and turrets will get range bonuses, so at rang 1 you are throwing 4 dice.
It'll be about the same difficulty tbh. Getting ot 3 or 4 hits will be about as difficult, and a TIE fighter or A Wing will typically block two of them, taking one tractor, whilst the deci will block none of them, taking 3.
Tractor beams on TIE Defenders almost made me quit this game at the outset.

Yeah, but we don’t know if 2.0 Defenders will get something like the current TIE/D double tap. Giving up a primary shot to use a token firing cannon isn’t as bad when you don’t follow it with a second shot.
