I think he’s making a judgement based on the flavor. Being certain of Ebon’s immediate demise night one is weird and poorly founded IMO, because 1.) What he says can affect who the scum will pick (ie they make Ovino look bad/weird or it is Ovino) and 2.) Ebon could be lying, for town or scum-related reasons.
