I just bought Arkham horror, Ive played it about five times. I was wondering if the expansions were worth buying? Do they make the game more fun, or just diffirent?
Are the expansions worth buying?
Most of them add difficulty, making it more likely for the GOO to wake up, which is a tall order in base game once you figure it out. Additional everything also adds even more replayability, since already low odds of having two games go almost the same way become even less likely.
Dunwich is definitely a must. I've only had it a couple of days now myself but what people have told me about it has proven to be true thus far. It fixes a few problems with the base game and is more difficult.

Yes and both :')
Personally, I love the game and own all the expansions, but not everyone feels it's worth purchasing everything.
I consider Dunwich absolutely essential, Innsmouh essential, and Kingsport somewhat essential :')
The base game is either a defective product or was designed with planned obsolescence (knowing FFG, I suspect the former). It doesn't function properly (once you understand how to play it) without custom rules variants, custom creations, or, in my opinion, best of all :') an expansion (I'd recommend Dunwich above all others for a number of reasons I don't want to get into for the who knows how manyth time— it's fun and will add to your challenge— which you'll need once you figure out how the base game of Arkham works).
Ican totally recommend the Dunwich expansion, it is really great!
I have not tried any of the other expansions, but reading several opinions on the net, I decided to not buy any more epansions. Well, maybe Insmouth.
I have most of the expansions, and like everyone has said, Dunwich is very good.
Even though I've only played it once and had 3 Investigators devoured, I really like the Innsmouth expansion.

Nooooo :'P
And definitely Innsmouth.
I'll go from general to most specific:
- Yes! Buy them all! Each brings variety and (more importantly) difficulty! However, don't play them all at once (at least, not immediately): try a game or two with each on its own. Everything together is quite difficult and extremely complex if you're not already familiar with all the new rules. I personally enjoy playing with all expansions together, but a lot of people would rather use one big and one small expansion.
- The big-box expansions are the most important. Aside from the cool new boards to explore and items to obtain, they all offer crucial game mechanics that you can use for every game: Injury/Madness (Dunwich), Personal Stories (Innsmouth), Epic Battle (Kingsport). They also offer new Ancient Ones and new Investigators!
- If you buy the big-box expansions one at a time: don't get Innsmouth first because it's the most difficult; Innsmouth also lacks many features that are supplemented by other expansions (Arkham gate bursts items, worshipers for some AOs even). Don't get Kingsport first unless you don't mind the fact that gates don't open in Kingsport. Dunwich has the weakest board threat mechanic (ironically: the Dunwich Horror itself) but its extra unstable locations and tons of new features make that a non-issue.
- Dark Pharaoh is the most thematic small-box expansion, and Black Goat is the most difficult. However, King in Yellow does both very well, and is generally considered the best small-box expansion.
- Only want one big and one small? Dunwich and King in Yellow. But, eventually you're going to want more...
I wish Lurker was out already so I could comment on that. A new preview would sure be nice...
Thanks for the info everybody.

Based on the gate replacements and the relationship cards, I'd guess Lurker at the Threshold is going to be better than King in Yellow. But it's hard to be sure without seeing it ;')
Yeah I was clawing my eyes out waiting for Black Goat, and when it arrived it turned out to be "LOL WUT"
Not that it's a bad expansion, but... I was afraid that subsequent expansions would have less and less time spent in proofreading and playtesting. Innsmouth had a couple of whoopsies but was otherwise kickass.
Interesting to see what Lurker adds to us mainly soloers. Relationship cards go the way to difficulty cards? Also, seems it might be some ways off still. Talisman's Frostmarch small-box expansion got an announcement + 3 previews before it came out, Lurker so far has just an announcement.

Heh... While I think the relationship cards are a cool idea, I have to admit, I might not use them (I don't use Guardians after all). I don't think the relationship cards look as thrown together as the difficulty cards.
