Any Methods Necessary - Firespray 2e article

By thespaceinvader, in X-Wing

I believe he was speculating flying it in 2.0.

Has Outlaw Tech been revealed yet to 2nd ed?

In first edition, OT was more useful to me on the Misthunter (it still dies like a B-wing) but there are better crew options for the Firespray (like K4 Security Droid) and now Contraband Cybernetics if you want to pull a red maneuver and get a TL, Focus, or Evade, etc.

The artwork is used on Novice Technician - At the end of the round, you may roll 1 attack die to repair 1 faceup damage card. Then on a (hit) result, expose 1 damage card.

I could see that working pretty good on Boba but my money is still on Perceptive Copilot. Avoiding the damage early on is stronger than repairing it.

Cad Bane looks like he’ll be very powerful on the firespray. Drop bomb and Red boost during systems phase, can position to block if possible, then blue maneuver and action in activation phase.

Combine with any of the titles for super fun times.

I think we would have seen the rotating wings during the game demos at Worlds, wouldn't we? That would be a selling point for some folks. They showed the spinny Fang, the flappy X, the turreted Y, so I doubt they'd be shy about the rotating action on the Firespray.

I'd love to see it, but all they mentioned was a new paint job.

Cross your fingers & toes though.

Is there a video of the Fang with the rotating wings? I have looked online, but haven't found anything so far.

So Dee on the Mynock's was saying that the Firespray should be flown to where people chase it, except for Boba Fett who should just get in people's grill.

So, what about putting Outlaw Tech on Boba Fett? Anyone had success with that?

Given that this is a 2e article how are you planning on using Outlaw Tech exactly?

I was responding to someone asking if we could expect rotating wings on the 2.0 XWMG ship model. As far as I can tell, it doesn't.

If you are looking for footage of the wings turning in canon, there is evidence of it in the Clone Wars series, where Ahsoka essentially slices one of them off, causing Aurra Sing to crash "Lethal Trackdown" Season 2 Episode 22. There's also more Clone Wars footage of the Slave I in "A Necessary Bond" Season 5, Episode 9.

pretty sure you can see them move in The Empire Strikes back when Boba leaves Cloud City.

they kinda have to move because they poke behind it by quite a bit.
It cant land if they didnt move. So even if there wasnt any video evidence of it (which there is, shown above), it clearly must move.

Building a canopy that can be penetrated with a blaster pistol seems like a bad design choice.

Sorry, I was talking about the spinny wings on the Fang Fighter model. I didn't expect the wings on the Firespray to move, as it wouldn't be landing in the middle of a space battle, although I suppose it could start the game landed on an asteroid!

Has anyone seen a video of the 2.0 Fang Fighter model with the rotating wings?

i think the Fang fighter was just seen with its wings in a different position, not actually stated they rotate.

ah.

No. I haven't seen and vids or good pics of the rotating wings. but from the few photos I have seen, it looks like they won't fully spin as the mounting peg gets in the way. so that's kinda disappointing. They should do something like the b-wing pegs to mount them. Maybe they will.

The peg is in the same place on the 1e and 2e fangs. The wings will wobble but they won't spin.

Fortunately, remounting it is trivial, and a lot easier than spinning up the wings on the 1e fang.
