Specifically the changes to pivot wing are great and medium bases make the ships that use them look 80% cooler.

So, so, true!

( though percentage yield may vary )

The best ship design from the Disney era.

I agree on that one. What i Love about the u wing is it gives the rebellion a small transport so story tellers don't have to randomly involve han solo everytime they want to change what planet the characters are on.

That gross, bloated pastel space acorn doesn't hold a candle to the U, laser brain!

Yeah because Han Solo isn't one of the most iconic and popular characters in pop culture; who needs Han Solo? Let along to the fabric of all of Star Wars. He literally has 3 versions of himself (as a pilot) in X-Wing

I call it a space-danish. It looks like a **** pastry.

I just mean in the old eu there weren't a ton of transport options besides stolen lambda and the millennium falcon, so the u wing opens gives the rebels a real way to get around. Han is a great character but he can't (and shouldn't) be everywhere

Disney seems to disagree and their in charge. That’s all that really matters anyway. In fact I don’t play Scum but because there’s a Scum (Young Han Solo) I will be now playing Scum.

Millenium Falcon appears in Episode III. Han Solo gets his own anthology film. Han Solo’s son is the only Skywalker grandchild in the new trilogy. Han Solo’s ship still lives on and haunts his son. He is the only Star Wars character (hero) rated by AFI in the Top 20 all time movie characters.

in this game particularly he is a pilot 3 times, crew and gunner. And if a stolen shuttle ever appears guess what? Han Solo.

And yet the actor who created this character hates him. Gotta admit I loved Han as a kid but in adult life about sick to death of a plot armor show boat that should have died several times over but plot armor is strong stuff.

Are we saying that Han SHOULD or SHOULD NOT be everywhere for the Rebels in this canon? Having other ship options are great, and while I think the "Disney era" has a lot of great OT-era design, the U-Wing is definitely towards the top of the greatness pile. It beats most of the OT design pre-Disney as well, for me. It really is too bad the same creativity hasn't made its way to the ST.

I really, really like the U-Wing with the changes we've seen. Hopefully they price it well.

That's the thing they may already be considering the point structure in 2.0 because of how the Jumpmaster 5000 took advantage of so many issues with it's design. While it's a nice transport I doubt we will see these in grouping of more than 3. I think that FFG Develooment team is well ahead of all of us and the new point/squad structure wil reflect that immediately, which I welcome.

I feel old. What is the ST?

For me the reason the U-Wing looks so cool is that its like an A-Wing and an X-Wing were put in a blender with a ship from F-Zero.

Regarding the changes...being able to rotate 90 is a really big deal, and that medium base doesnt just look cool, it is still fast and more manuverable compared to a large base at least. Advanced Sensors helps of course.

Sequel Trilogy - Resistance and First Order, basically. There is some interesting design (Silencer, I'm looking at you) but I haven't been thrilled so far purely based on design.

I like your reasoning for the U-Wing look. For me, it just feels like it so perfectly captured the feel of Rebel tech while filling an entirely different role.

The second edition title is what really makes the U-wing imo.

Gonna have to disagree here.

Ship design is maybe the only thing Disney has done fairly consistently since they took over.

Not a huge fan of the VCX and Lancer but they work for what they are supposed to be.

Some Original Trilogy stuff below but gives some context on how close the overall designs are in terms of look and feel.

Note that I specified the ST. I love the OT-era designs that Disney has produced. While the Silencer is a great design, and the throwbacks are well done, I don't feel like the ST has captured my imagination like the OT always has for ships. I've overall defended the use of the T-70 and RZ-2, and the FO, but they're also so very similar. **** close to every design we've seen for OT era out of Disney has been great. They're definitely "in-universe", but the ships for the Resistance and First Order just haven't been quite as exciting to me because of the massive similarities.

Imma let you finish but the TIE striker is the best ship since Disney

Look, the VCX is great. It's got a very WWII bomber vibe, which fits in with a lot of the original influence on SW aesthetics. B/SF-17 bombers kinda work for me (they've kinda got a Millennium Falcon cockpit, on a wierd submarine/B-wing cross), but they're not even close to The Ghost. Attack Shuttle is blah, though.

So I really like the VCX.

But the U-Wing instantly became my favorite ship--period--just beyond the OT Y-Wing. It's just so beautiful. It riffs strongly on the X-Wing without feeling at all derivative. It feels more connected to the classic design (ARC-170 is not something that I believe is a precursor to the Z-95 or T-65 in any way), without being just a knock off.

I like where you’re going with this, but @catachanninja has a point.
