Had a guy in a 10 player GNK event today and he ended last place with his 5 uwing not even winning one game.

I think 2 support boats with 3 X-wings is an even more fruitful prospect. But yes, I agree a mix of any kind seems better than 5 U-wings.

There's a big difference between the least used or most easily destroyed by over powered ordnance and the worst ship mechanically. The only thing keeping the Lambda off the bottom spot for the same reason is its great pilot abilities. I will admit the Saw's pilots are much better than the original pilots though.

you're not wrong. I was speaking more to base mechanics though. The Lambda's pilot abilities are/were (Saw, Magva, and Benthic all have decent abilities) better than the original U-wing pilots. Other than that they are on par mechanically without looking at crew synergy.

Because measuring speed in a straight line in X-Wing is almost always irrelevant. Considering the dominance of kiting turrets in the game since wave 4, the ability to move through asteroids has been utterly crucial for jousting lists. U-wings, being the large arc-based ships they are, fail entirely at moving through asteroids. Thus, they have to move around the outside of rock clusters, effectively travelling slower towards the enemy.

B-wings, on the other hand, are more than capable of darting through rocks, especially if they don't mind barrel rolling (linked batteries B-Wings are fine with it). Cutting through a rock cluster means they don't auto-lose to Dash like U-wing based lists do.

Additionally, in almost all circumstances, B-wings turn around 2 turns faster than U-Wings, which is huge in a battle of jousters.
