Which Ackbar list is better?

By Fredrikhuhtanen, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hello, I was just building two quite similar Ackbar list, but was wondering which one you would consider better (And possible improvements for that matter):

List 1:

MC 75 Armored Cruiser (104)
-Ackbar (38)
-Strategic Adviser (4)
-Gunnery Team (7)
-Electronic Countermeasures (7)
-External Racks (3)
-XI7 Turbolasers (6)
=169

Assault Frigate MK 2 (72)
-Intel Officer (7)
-Gunnery Team (7)
-Electronic Countermeasures (7)
-XI7 Turbolasers (6)
=99

Assault Frigate MK 2 (72)
-Intel Officer (7)
-Gunnery Team (7)
-Electronic Countermeasures (7)
-XI7 Turbolasers (6)
=99

Squadrons: (33 pts)
Shara Bey (17)
Tycho Chelchu (16)

Total: 400

--------------------------------------

List 2:

Assault Frigate MK 2 (72)
-Ackbar (38)

-Intel Officer (7)
-Gunnery Team (7)
-Electronic Countermeasures (7)
-XI7 Turbolasers (6)
=137

Assault Frigate MK 2 (72)
-Intel Officer (7)
-Gunnery Team (7)
-Electronic Countermeasures (7)
-XI7 Turbolasers (6)
=99

Assault Frigate MK 2 (72)
-Intel Officer (7)
-Gunnery Team (7)
-Electronic Countermeasures (7)
-XI7 Turbolasers (6)
=99

GR-75 Transports (18)
-Comms Net (2)
=20

Squadrons: (44 pts)
Shara Bey (17)
Tycho Chelchu (16)
1 A-wing (11)

Total: 400

Neither ? Triple MC-75AC's with GT's, DTT's or QBT's, Strat Advisor on one and ECM's on the flagship!

Seriously though, I'd say the first one (maybe dump the external racks for a cheap bid

For funsies, I'm running something close to your first list in CC and it's not working out well. At all.

It may be more my fault than the list though, since Ackbar isn't my style and I've never been able to play in CC until now, which is tripping me up a bit. In all 3 games so far, the two AFs don't do enough damage before they get popped.

I like the first one. The MC75 is a good tank and works well leading a Congo line, as well as being more threatening up front. I like the rest and officer wise maybe consider damage control officer to mitigate ACM/APTs on the 75 adding to its leadership and survivability :)

First one.

but at activations Strat advisor isn't really doing much for you. Either beef one AF and drop the other for a CR90 and (hopefully) 2 flotillas, or go with Bail in the officer seat to at least make it so on the attack pass you don't eat a first/last

I agree with Broba. I would also probably drop the squads.

I run a really dangerous Ackbar list with an MC-75, Defiance, TRC Jaina's Light, and a Leia Comms Net Flotilla. Strat adviser gives you effectively 5 activations, and Leia can change your dial to a confire or engineering on important turns. The 75 can do real damage to anybody that gets in front of it while still having really dangerous Ackbar shots, and Defiance is a monster, as always.

I would put Caiken and Shollen on one of the frigates.

Really? I've used something very similar twice this week (MC75, AFB AFB, Tch/Shar) and found it steamrollered opponents without losing anything but Shara.

It does require a lot of arc dodging with the ships, but if you manage to dance around at red range and avoid getting trapped it should be a decent fleet.

That's how I tried to play it - red range is my friend. Doesn't work against 3 JerJerrod ISDs. Thrawn was repairing just enough that I couldn't take his big ship out quickly enough. Sloane fairly quickly nuked my redirects. If I practiced with it more I'm sure I'd do better, but I think it just has some lousy CC matchups. Especially with the snowball effect. :(

3 jerjerrod ISDs is trouble no matter how you slice it.
