Most Anticipated Characters?

By JoeyBriefcase, in Star Wars: Destiny

Since we have a good idea of the characters and themes of Ways of the Force, what pairings and decks are you excited to play when it comes out?

ePiett x2 Mandalorians and Plo Koon Partisans come to mind for me, I miss 3 character decks.

I’m excited for Dooku/anyone who fits. I’m also excited to try Pryce in so many slots where she fills a gap. One thing I thought of that could be fun is Talzin with two force sensitive outcasts. Three characters, 27 health, four dice, and blue abilities all day e’ry day.

Ooh yeah, not to mention Holocrons with way of the force

Exactly! That card opens up plenty of opportunities.

Mega excited for generic Mandalorians, sad they are villian and not neutral as I'd love to run them with Bo Katan. Wonder if Pre Visla will be a villian... can we finally have our Dark Saber?

Old Man Luke. I'm something of a Luke fanboy, and tried to force set 1 Luke for a long time. So it's good to me that I can finally use him and be semi competitive.

Well there's half of my dream come true lol GIMME MORE MANDOS! Thanks for the heads up hun.

Leia is gonna be my jam.

Rex, 2x clonetroopers, and the Red Plot could either be really stupid or really powerful.
(Rex, not eRex, no room for plot otherwise)

Rex activates and lets you take the battlefield so speed isnt a problem. Use either the Weapons Factory Alpha for some vehicle focused stuff since there a fair bit of red hero vehicles or Imperial Academy to not be limited by Vehicle for support stuff. Or take Fort Anaxes and play the damage spreading game with your troopers.
Every turn that plot gets another resource. By turn 3, its capable of buffing a damage die enough to finish off a character with ease. Or you could keep going and let it get even more strong before you start using it.
Imagine how crazy it would be if there was a blanket "ready" effect in this game. Magic is very capable of this and trust me we dont want that mechanic lol.

I’m changing my answer because of that Snoke spoiler. I want to run him with everything. All of your blue pairings like Kylo, Vader, Maul, maybe Fifth Brother, but I also want to run him with some non blue characters who have been wanting for a partner, like Cad Bane. I’m just imaging using Snoke’s ability to resolve Cad’s dice for five damage. I also think that resolving a resource dice with Snoke’s ability is the best way to go.

You still have the pay the resource since are "resolving", so you pay 1 one resource and 1 damage.

I'm excited for Cassian + New Luke both look to be beasts on point to die/health values.

Luke looks fun. Jabba looks out right unplayable. If his special was all dice showing a special then it could at least be interesting. I liked the old Jabba and thought it just needed a little bump. Like 2 focus on his die instead of one. The new set has some interesting cards and some that makes you go, "What?" Will anyone really be paying 1 to give ambush to the other players next card played? I digress, sorry.

Yeah i think new jabba is stupid. Beyond stupid. I'd rate him as the most pathetic character in the box, even the Gungans are better

I keep seeing Jabba and I keep thinking I should build a deck with him. And I should! Then I should play that deck on the kitchen table until my heart is as thoroughly satisfied that he’s every bit as bad as my mind already knows he is, so that I never try to bring him to a tournament.

he's just too expensive for what he does.

12/16 for a 12hp (which is the only plus side) character that does no damage unless you have a ton of specials. And i mean a ton.
You'd want a blue character to get access to all the Abilities, which sorta limits him to Kylo1/Annie if using eJabba or Fifth Brother if 1die jabba. Of these, i think i'd go with kylo1 (four specials on character dice potentially)

You are now trying to play a Sith Holocron deck with whatever cheap specials from yellow you can also squeeze in that until you get 6+ specials out there you are going to be doing no damage. If you survive that long you are probably almost dead as it is. Generally sith holocron decks still do decent damage while they wait for the abilities to show up, this one wouldnt be doing jack. Face anyone that generates shields, even minorly, and you are doing next to nothing.
Dont get me wrong, if you somehow got both specials on Kylo, jabba, and 2-3 Force abilities you probably just did a massive amount of damage in one fell swoop. Good luck getting those dice out there at once though.

He should have been an 8/11 cost with 10hp for that die/special. Yeah, i honestly believe hes THAT overpriced. He literally does NOTHING without a gak-load of specials on the field at once. Something people are used to denying because of how many rude specials there are atm.
Or, he should have had a better die with a special that has a cap, but hits that cap very qucik so he's better with casual specials in a deck rather than full-fledged special chaining. I.e. does 3 damage per other die showing special but can only do a max of 6 damage.

I'd rate Jabba the one dud in what otherwise looks like a really cool box. I am excited to be able to build with characters such as Snoke, new Dooku, Governor Pryce, Cassian, DJ, Old Man Luke and Plo Koon among others. Not this Jabba.

Boss Nash - Because now I do mucho mucho damage.

I think people are underestimating Jabba. I look forward to building a deck with him.

I think the supposed intent with jabba is maybe Jabba Sebulba with the bunta eve thing. Sebulba has an indirect and direct damage side as well as a special and Jabba can also generate good money to pay for yellow vehicles and maybe even a crime lord play with sebulba and winning the bunta eve thing.
Partners in crime makes disrupt sides on some dice also worthwhile as possible more indirect damage

Literally everything about Old Luke I am excited about.

Cassian A., Luke, and Count

I would be excited about Jabba, but the art ruins it for me. It looks like a happy meal character.

It's only worth it on Palpatine. Yes you can way of the force , but would you have one of your 3 upgrades be another character die or Mind Probe/Force Throw/ Force Wave/ Force Lightning. There are few chars were their die is better than an upgrade.

A comical idea i just had.

Plo Koon. Unless FFG faqs it saying you cant have repeat abilities, right now hes really only good with Padawans...and oddly enough Jedha Partisans.

I have seen several people pair him with Padawans for a free 2cost weapon or a 1cost expensive weapon right out the gate. But i was looking for something less obvious and i noticed the Partisans

Deal indirect damage, discard top 4 cards of a deck. For dealing damage. Holy crap thats a lot of completely passive milling. This is probably the closest to a 'hybrid' deck ive seen, since theyre still doing significant damage just not quite AS much as a normal brute-force deck.
