The Pallid Mask. easy?? !!SPOILERS!!

By Bibbles, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

SPOILERS!!!!!?

We just finished the Pallid mask and investigated the guy in the mask instead of killing him. I found the adventure quite simple. We took almost no damage and almost no sanity damage. WE managed to almost explore the entire "Catacombs". Im wondering if anyone else experienced it the same? Im worried we did something wrong and missed the major challenges?

play it on hard.

We haven't gone passed standard...That game gets tough fast. ? I sure love it. What a great couples board game.

Now that is interesting. My group (Ashcan Pete, Zoey, Sefina and Daisy) has found this scenario very hard (talking normal difficulty here). Then again, we were performing pretty poorly over the whole course of the campaign ...

In the second run through (Zoey, Sefina) we didnt investigate him on purpose and we managed to get almost every point of XP (including all (elite-)enemies). Again, the difficulty for us was far from easy

@Bibbles were you remembering to pay 2(per_investigator) clues to enter every new location, and remembering that the payers had to be together at the location you were moving from? That would be the oversight I can imagine players making that would make the catacombs considerably easier... Did you have all the encounter sets in, too?

WOH where does it say we have to be together to spend the clues to move? Ooopsie!!

On every Catacombs card

As an additional cost for you to enter Catacombs, investigators at your location must spend 1[per investigator] clues, as a group.

mmm... I dont have my rulebook on me at the moment, but I'm fairly sure this is not true. When spending clues as a group, the investigators do not need to be at the same location, necessarily. Those spending the clues need to be at that location, but not necessarily everyone.

So for example in a 2 player game, Rex can spend 2 clues to wander off, even if Zoey is not at the same location with him. But if Rex wants to spend 1 clue and Zoey spend 1 clue, then they do have to be together.

There's a difference. Sometimes the agenda says "investigators... as a group", sometimes "investigators at your location... as a group."

That matters a lot, in some scenarios. But yeah, they don't all have to be there, only those who spend clues.

K so we screwed up twice. It totally does say that all spenders have to be on the same spot which makes those sinkholes a real pain. We had Minh and Rolland so the clues were flying off fast. My Rolland is outfitted with art students. Once I get my clue vacuum going its tough to stop em. We did end up running with only 4 XP though so its not like it was a total breeze.

I play hard so I might be skewed but this map can be harsh. I have yet to escape this map with a True-solo playthrough.

The group clue limit is tough, if you wind up with 1 clue on one investigator and one on the other you're effectively stuck until you regroup.
