Good points. I wonder if crossbows mean Daqan won't get a truly good blocker, like carrion lancers and Scions. Rune golems are decent, but not maneuverable enough to be truly good at it. Vitality tokens are gonna be a **** of a thing though!

I think that 2x1s of spearmen would actually make great blockers. For only 1 more point than a Rune Golem they are wider, more maneuverable, and can rally defend on a 3, reform defend on a 4, and march defend on a 4. If you can defend every attack, which is doeable barring a few fringe scenarios, you are at 16 effective hp for 18 points. 2x1s of spined threshers typically charge for 6 damage and then swing next round for 9 damage. This would leave 1 dude left, effectively holding them for 3 rounds.

Anyone try this out yet?
