WotF and Trilogies... when does it take effect

By mjhan300, in Star Wars: Destiny

Hey I'm just wondering the timing of how the release of WotF affects the official Holocrons? I'm due to play in an FFG sponsored Trilogies tourney at Gen Con 2018 on August 4th. So what is going to be the available releases to pull from. Of course I have already made out my possible Trilogies decks using latest Legacies, 2 Player starter and Rivals draft. So will this change to WotF, 2 Player start and Rivals draft?

If the later is the case, I will need to scurry around after the release to try to get some WotF product and key cards...

Legacies and WotF are part of the same cycle. They’ll always be part of the same Trilogies format.

So you’re only looking at adding to the cardpool, not losing anything.

With a July 5th release date, I’d also fully expect WotF to be legal at Gencon.

Awesome! Hopefully I can just retool my existing decks to add a few key cards / strategies...

I wonder what the trilogy meta will look like. See you at the tournament.

Kylo2/Anakin and Dooku2/Talzin look like serious contenders to me. And, R2P2, R2/Aayla, Yoda/Hondo will only get better with a more diverse upgrade card pool. A second set definitely makes Trilogy look more fun.

I played at Adepticon, piloting Kylo2/Anakin1 (I was 4-0 before I hit vehicles) and I think it's a great deck but with the Maul's saber errata the hero vehicle decks are an even harder match-up than before and I'm sure they'll be getting more toys too. So imo hero vehicles is the deck to watchout for.

We need to see the rest of the new characters. But right now Dooku2/Talzin is formidable because of all the built in dice control. I also expect decks using Governor Pryce with basically any character or Upgrade/Support with a powerful Special will be likewise powerful.

So, I am heading to Gencon for the first time this year. I was seriously contemplating just doing draft games all 2 days that I will be there. Unfortunately they told me that they aren't official FFG sponsored events, so that they won't be giving out the FFG official promos. Is there a list of official FFG events? If so, do they all give credit towards FFG promos? (I want a spot-gloss)

If you click on Find Events on the Gen Con site and either search by company using Fantasy Flight Games or search using Star Wars Destiny as the search term. Then click on the event and it will display if it is sponsored by FFG.

So the North American Championships is the only thing they are doing?

Do you know if they give tickets like at the GQ where you can get prizes like the spot gloss cards?

No. There were a couple of smaller tournaments, but they sold out very quickly. I think for the trilogy tournament on Saturday it was filled in an hour. I was one of the last ones to get in.
