Thrust Corrector spoiled - Saw's Renegades expansion

By Jarval, in X-Wing

My mind is just having a hard time with this.

5 PS1 U-Wings with title and Targeting Scramblers and Courier droids (cause its free). That's 40 hit points behind 2 agility with 3 red dice each and Medium (Large in 1.0) base blockers.

Send in 1 to block, followed by 2 of them for close range attacks. Hang back the last 2 to scramble the leaders. Any attacks against the leaders at range 1 cannot be modified giving them a little more durability. Then get the heck out of dodge with the first wave and scramble the second wave as they make a close pass on the enemy. Then Pivot wing to turn and come back through again. This is gonna be hilarious. I need three more U-Wings now.

Targeting Scrambler is a unique card, sadly.

The 2.0 Partisan U-wing will likely cost the same amount as the Rebel Alliance version, since while it will have a lower initiative, the 2.0 Partisan stuff get an illicit slot.

I disagree. From what they have shown so far it appears that ships will not be paying a built in cost for the ability to take upgrades. That cost has been shifted to the upgrades themselves. So it will most likely be 40 points, with the ability to take the illicit. This would make the Blue 42 points, both costs reflecting their renegade refit values....

Looks like a nice fair card that should help Bwings and G1As, even Uwings, while being useless on high agility ships. FFG was smart and limited it to 4 hull ships as well so palp doesnt get stronger.

All these nice cards coming out and they will be useless in a couple months. Shame.

Huh, 5 Partisan Renegades with Collison Detector and Courier droid.

Able to deploy at PS8, ignore crits on obstacles, 40 health, 2/1 agility, 3 die primary.

...I might just try flying this. Thinking of calling it Traffic Jam.

While they're definitely trying to remove the need for 0 point upgrades as a result of significant built-in cost (Which led to the 0-point systems and EPTs), an upgrade slot has to cost something. Especially since being Initiative 1 has advantages for blocking, which will become much more important now that action-less modifications are rare. So I'd guess the Partisan Renegade is 41 points.

It’s a nice guaranteed evade for the B-Wings and G1-A... And for only 1 point, easy to stomach. But it eats the System Slot, which for me often has Advanced Sensors stapled to it due to all red maneuvers. The real question is whether or not a version of this will exist in v2 X-Wing. Because then Braylenbtism could reliably shake off some damage.

Not to burst your bubbles, lads, but you can only ever get a maximum of 1 evade when you use Thrust Corrector, as it both cancels all of your existing results (which would negate C-3P0) and prevents you from making any further modifications to your dice (which rules out evade tokens).

The only way I can think to get it to add multiple evades is if you used it on a ship with LWF, such as the TIE/SF or (for some reason) the TIE phantom. Roll 2 defense dice, blank out, cancel all results, add an evade, take a stress, roll the additional defense die from LWF. I think that would work? You couldn't focus the LWF die but in theory you could get 2 evades. Since it was confirmed that Palpatine could be triggered in between normal dice and LWF I see no real reason why this wouldn't work in the rules since rolling extra dice isn't modifying dice, a pretty niche case though

Probably not, actually. The earliest you could be using Thrust Corrector is your modify dice step; LWF is used after rolling dice, which is (just) before that. It would get caught up in the original roll that's getting canceled.

Do we know if the conv kit has the 2.0 cards coming in Saw's Renegades? Is this pack the only way to get these cards for 2.0?

This pack is indeed the only way to get the pilots. FFG does want this product to actually sell, y'know. ?

Pity there is no 2.0 counter part for this card, especially since it was one of the community designed cards (this is Marcel Manzanos). Same with Nand’s card, targeting scrambler. They really should have made it a priority to have their cards in 2.0 as well. Hopefully in the future.

Wow... boy did they get screwed :D

U-wing Swarm!

5 with collision Detectors might work. Courier Droid....deploying at PS8 is a bit irrelevant as 5 large bases is basically going to fill your deployment zone...

.....4 U-wings might work. Thrust Corrector will work rather nicely in conjunction with Saw's pilot ability, too.

I’m just glad with the cost reduction a 3 x U wing and 2 x X wing list is now possible.... it was annoyingly a min 101 points with blue squadron pathfinders and it will look so much cooler than 3 U 1 X (and maybe an A) that I feared I would be stuck with.....

Roll on tomorrow and my 2 x Renegades kits to make this possible!

What pilots and upgrades are you thinking for this 3u2x list?

Well it needs to be all generic and that’ll leave only 2 points for upgrades....

So either FA Astro or r2 astros on the t65s with servos and integrated Astro. and then 1 point epts.... prob crack shots at first but also considering cool hand for some talon roll shenanigans.

U wings just naked and awesome (aside from renegade refit obviously!).
