Correct, though I could be maybe be convinced to allow Fleet commands and Experimental retros. The idea behind banning uniques is that many of them are enablers for very strong combos. I'd like to tone that down a bit for the cross-faction builds. Feel free to chime in with thoughts on the format, signups will be running for at least 2 weeks, possibly more. If the general consensus on certain rules is leaning one way I can be flexible.

No problem! Pinning a thread is something the Mods would have to do, and I don't believe they are allowed to acknowledge the existence of Vassal in such an official capacity.

To allow people an experience that they don't normally get. And, as Dras said, to open up the options within draft pool. With limiting uniques we can hopefully avoid overly powerful combos from the new opportunities.

Yeah, I think so. Though I didn't actually check the dates. If this format is popular enough for a casual tournament to shake things up with fleet building I could run it as a reoccurring event. The great thing is the rules can always be tweaked to allow for different and hopefully better experiences.

There are some REALLY mismatched waves and many of them don't provide certain ship types for one side or the other (for example, Quasar carriers vs Hammerheads, Core+1 Rebs vs Imps gives Rebels 3 ships to 2).

Experimental Retrofit is the entire reason to take Interdictors, taking away uniques removes their reason for existing when half the utility is in objective and setup manipulation.

How will squad packs work? Will there be multiple of each one, so when you pick it you get 2 of each squad and need to draft another to get an additional 2? Or will they be like lands in MTG where everyone is supplied with as many as we want?

My thought is since there will be no unique squadrons, that each squadron Pack would provide two of each squadron in it. I could change this to be unlimited numbers of those squads, it depends on what numbers I'm getting when I'm doing my draft calculations.
