Full Battle Report - Kuat Devastator vs Balanced Dodonna Fleet with Bombers

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada Battle Reports

I only brought 2 squadrons up against about 7, plus a well balanced fleet. Here I'm bringing back the Devastator title, having not used it in years. Trying to make something work.

Crabbok, What do you use for your overlay?

Take the following with a grain of salt: You really might be nicer to your opponents in a friendly match ? -. maybe even help them. I get that its their duty to check your range- and arc announcements, but still. Even you yourself get better training if you make it harder for yourself. Anyway, thanks for some more great content by a staple of the community.

I don't think I know what you are referring to here.

My opponent here doesn't play as much and I was giving him advice nearly the whole game. He didn't want to drop his B-Wings, when I knew I could easily kill his AFmk2 with Rapid Launch bays, so I almost made him do it, because I knew he'd end up loosing a ton more. I reminded him of squadrons that could attack mine, when he would have otherwise wasted B-Wings shooting at me... gave him lots of advice the whole game, at least as far as I knew. (Granted I didn't go back and re-watch the entire 90 minute battle just now....)

So in the interest of understanding, what specifically are you referring to?

Easy answer: 33:30 crit was not a dodonna crit, a structural would have killed that Flotilla, taking away the possibility for a ram. You probably forgot that I honestly think.

Harder answer: The thing that should really have been redone was the frigatte manouver that rammed the flotilla, obvsly you took the damage on the flotilla to entice exactly that, still, at that point the game was over and subsequent kindness was like stroking a dying puppy. For your own training, I would have asked your friend to redo that movement, i think there are at least two right hand side movements where there would have been no ram, allowing the bombers to threaten demo or vader while having your own flotilla act as blocker for the isd.

Apart from that, I watch all your bat reps and there are times where you check arcs or ranges, hesitate shortly, than announce that you have achieved a double arc at the range you need. I cannot be sure what is happening there and I DO NOT want to accuse you of anything, my point is rather: in such cases you might ask your opponent to double check, teaching them what they should do during tournaments.

I gotcha -

The missed Dodonna crit was something we both missed. At the time I would have preferred he pull a dodonna crit, because I was hoping the Gozanti would die, but accidents happen. And as far as the movement goes, I don't believe there was any move he could have made that would have been clean - (Might be due in part to the angle of the camera here).

What would have been nice, is if I told my opponent NOT to attack the gozanti at all in the first place, but at a certain point I think that would have gone too far, and I'd have been playing the game for him.
