Breaking away from 1.0 and preparing for 2.0

By Ronu, in X-Wing

I haven’t had a chance to play too much recently but keeping up with 2.0 changes. So had a chance to help a Friend celebrate a birthday and play some X-wing today. So one thing I have been doing is eliminated specific cards personally from my list and looked for alternatives and trying to stay sharp with my flying. So example:

Cards I have put away and making myself not play with includes:

Veteran Instincts: Flying ships at the Place they are supposed to be at naturally. Which drastically changes the way you use Pilots and ships.

Adaptability: see Veteran Instincts.

TLT: Thankfully I am an Imperial player so not using it isn’t a big deal.

Advanced Cloaking Device: starting to use Stygium Paticle instead and Phantoms certainly fly differently.

FCS: another one I’m dropping. Not because it won’t make it to 2.0 but it won’t be working the same.

Expertise: likely not going to make it to 2.0 with the idea being to drop free mods of dice like it does.

Those are the big ones right off. It is really changing some things for me and getting me back to some positive and old habits. Certainly makes deciding on an action more important. Certainly interesting to see older style mechanics in action.

I'll continue to play 1e until 2e is released. The biggest reason for this is simple: we don't know the rules. Nor do we know the point values of pilots and upgrades. True, TLT and VI will no longer be available but they are a small part of the upgrades available now.

No doubt but they are some of the most commonly used upgrades. Getting back into habits of not using them should loom big for those who prepare.

Happy Birthday!

You forgot PTL, which is arguably the most broken upgrade in the game and what led x-wing 1.0 to it's decline. Because who wouldn't want double actions? It is in nearly every broken / OP list since it was released and why it never got fixed (or limited) is beyond me.

Push The Limit - A-wing only .

Push The Limit - Tie Interceptor only .

Now only Soonter Fell is a major PITA.
