Traveling with X-Wing??

By drail14me, in X-Wing

I’m wondering how most travel with X-Wing miniatures?

I’m headed to Gen Con for the first time this year. Sole intent is to pick up 2.0 and play as much X-Wing as I can. I’m flying ang going light with just a carry-on and small backpack. Got to leave room in my bags to bring 2.0 back (unless I ship it back).

I know I don’t need to take my whole collection. Only plan to take the ships and 1.0 stuff I’ll need for the 1.0 events I’ve signed up for. Also plan to take a couple extra ships I want to fly with 2.0 if I get a chance for a pick up game or two.

Im thinking of taking just my needed ships, dials, cards and upgrades and the tokens I’d need for those lists in 1.0 in a small Plano box. My first event is an FFG 2.0 event and I’ll get the new core set there which will give me rulers, templates, obsticals, etc.

So, what advice y’all got for traveling light with X-Wing?

I either use an X-Case ( http://www.activemindsgames.com/ ) or pack as much as I can into one Core Set box with cardboard taped over the window in the front.

I recommend only bringing what you need. Triple check. And consider your return trip...

This. I'll pack everything I need for 2-3 lists, prepared in advance. Templates, dice, damage deck, a bag of tokens and pilot/upgrade cards. Depending on what you're flying, you can fit it all in Core Set box as @acegard recommends. You can use the part of the Core Set box as a tray to carry your stuff between tables as well.

For a more expensive option, I've also got a half-size KR case, which I use to transport bigger models and spares.

Sorry folks... forum related mishap

I still use my Feldherr mini case from a couple years ago. I had a shoulder strap put on. It holds 2x 40mm trays, and a COG-O-TWO magnetic template tray with lid. Its pretty snug, but the Feldherr foam is perfect for slightly squishing down to accommodate and not damaging models. I can fit 2-3 full lists with all associated stuff in this case. Well worth the price you will pay:

I keep my tokens in a 7 day pill container. It works during travel and play.

All of my rulers and templates fit in a sliding pencil case except range 2 & 3 plus the 5 straight. If you found one big enough for a 1 foot school ruler everything would fit...
