Why maul is not in the rebel conversion kit.

By fiddybucks, in X-Wing

When the contents of the rebel kit were spoiled I immediately noticed the lack of maul. I knew he was in the scum kit from the livestream and I knew rebels could use with Ezra. I was upset because I didn’t want to have to spend 50$ on a conversion kit for a faction I don’t plan on playing. After reading a lot of the outrage I can see I wasn’t alone.

But I think I figured out why he is absent from the rebel kit. He is going to come in a rebel ship pack and ffg has the foresight to give him to scum players in their kit so that they do not have to buy a rebel ship or rebel ship upgrade pack.

I think you’re absolutely correct. Maul will be forthcoming in a rebel pack.

So VCX-100 in wave 2, then?

I think Maul is where the Informant crew card is.

In the kit. It was just not shown.

If this is true its really sad.

People are freaking out because it's not in the rebel pack, when in reality it could be the only reason its in the scum pack is because FFG is trying to be nice.

He's not on the inventory sheet either though.

Maybe maybe not. Assuming there are even waves like we are used to in xwing. Ffg could apply the Legion model of constant release, at least until all the 1e ships are in 2.0 blisters.

From the Lando's Falcon article.

The Rebel kit is the only one we've seen entirely though right? I'm waiting on the Scum one to see if Dalan and Thweek are still around.

Possibly its entirety, it could actually be that some things are missing but it appears to be complete or near complete.

He’s probably in the little baggy that contains the Wave 1 upgrades that aren’t listed on the conversion item list.

Maul only works with a certain type of Rebel build, but he’s defaulted to Scum. They likely didn’t see a reason to put a unique crew in 2 kits, so they put him in with his faction. A bit annoying if you don’t intend to get the Scum kit, but there is eBay and trading.

Just my .02 Galatic Credits.

Edit: I am pretty sure the baggy in each kit is cards from the Wave 1 expansions.

That makes the promise of no cross faction buying empty marketing bullpoodoo.

You could say that Imperial players didn't need Starviper to get Autothrusters, they only had to wait for the TIE Silencer release.

I think it's cuz they would have to introduce all Dark Force cards in Rebel pack too - and IMO they did not finish developing them. I hope they will be in "patch" pack later to buy.

Don’t forget Sunny Bounder! :D

I think he’s a special case and unlike with standard cross-faction upgrades I wouldn’t necessarily expect FFG to include him in any Rebel kit. He’s a Scum card you can potentially add to Rebel lists, makes sense you’d have to buy the Scum set he comes in in order to do so.

What is this legion release model of which you speak?

He's a Scum & Villany upgrade card; he's in the Scum & Villany Conversion Kit. QED.

I love when people excersise advanced mental gymnastics to defend corporations against their own interest.

How nice for you :)

Scum players have to buy two ties and a x wing in the core set. Rebels have to buy a scum product for Maul. What's your point? Should we only buy imperial?

Is there seriously a large contingent of Rebel-only players who want Maul? I thought those were all the 20 B-Wing guys who "need" to buy ten conversion kits. What are they going to with ten Maul cards?

I think most people are upset because this directly contradicts the most favorable reading of FFGs promise, not that Maul will be that hard to get through the secondary market.

Star Wars Legion.

basically - since the game has come out, we’ve had a new release every month. However, rather than have a “wave” drop, it is usually one or two at most expansions at a time. And if you aren’t buying both factions, it’s more like every other month.

Works pretty well.

Guys, rebel players will definitely be getting Maul, don’t get your panties Slave-Leia bikinis in a twist. The OP hit the nail right on the head.

We’ll probably see him when FFG rereleases either the Ghost or the Sheathipede expansion pack.
