Can FFG win the trust and excitement of the Armada community back?

Everyone needs to be careful with this thread!

All this talk about football is going to make FFG think they will need to make some sort of football-based game.

Of course, it will have to use the Star Wars IP. And they'll call it something like Super Bombad XI.

And of course, the base game will only include enough for each squad to field 5 players - meaning you'll have to buy 3 just to be able to do Organized Play.

And of course, miniatures will look awfully similar to Legion ... but they'll be 1 mm bigger so you can't officially use the Legion minis.

And of course, there will be tons of expansions. Of which the "worst" players will include the best ability cards ... for the other side!

And of course, that's all we'll ever hear about for 2 years.

And of course, somehow, someway, squadrons will still find a way to be overpowered.

You can see where I am going with this: you can kiss any press on Armada good-bye!

?

PS - nice draw, Iceland!

Star Wars has so many Sports - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Sports

I guess if they want Star Wars Soccer they could call it Limmie, aka Bolo-Ball

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Limmie

There’s our next big announcement -

STAR WARS BOLO-BALL MANAGER

Manage your own Limmie team as you fight for the Galactic Cup! Choose your favorite franchise like Team Fondor or Bylluran Athletic! Want a challenge? Play as Team Coruscant and try to get a stadium filled beyond 22%! Or try Team Alderaan and get that last championship before the team is dissolved, (by the Death Star.)

Based on the “beloved” BLOOD BOWL TEAM MANAGER CARD GAME, now you too can relive all your fantasies about managing an Athletic team as it attempts to claim the Cup in a galaxy far far away.

we dont whine, even if its hard to understand that US is not in the center of everything. We actually couldnt care less, and certainly no one here is hurting that US cities dont want to compete with European cities.

Okay. I'm gonna say this. FOR ME, the US is the center of everything. Why? Since I am the center of my perspective and I am IN the US, by definition....

Now, if we are talking about what the US is THE BEST at, I'm not weighing in. Why? Because reasons. Doesn't matter, but I want to point something out using different examples.

This thread has become "THE US IS BEST AT DRAWING SQUARES!" and "Well, THE REST OF THE WORLD IS BEST AT DRAWING CIRCLES!" Honestly. We all know our short comings. The US (Men's team anyway) sux at soccer. Fact. The rest of the world doesn't play American football, so their skill level would be questionable. Fact. BUT, if you want to debate on whose units are larger (Metric or Standard, you sick puppies) PICK THE SAME UNIVERSAL MEASURING STICK OR IT DOESN'T F'N MATTER! It just wastes thread space that could be taken up by salt and despair.

Now, HAPPY FATHER's DAY to all the DAD's out there! THAT is UNIVERSAL!

Except that over here, Father's Day is in November... ?

I fully agree with your point though.

Not even close.

Now you've offended me and all my countrymen.

For those of you wondering, Bylluran Athletic is the correct choice.

I have no idea how you could trust them after all of that.

Because I didn't watch the Hyperspace report and didn't anticipate anything. I had no expectations, so nothing was smashed.

I never have felt that FFG has owed me anything with this game. I am pleased with what has been put out so far, and really don’t have a list of stuff that still needs to be put out. I would like to see squadrons of all the x-wing ships, but that is only because I use these miniatures for the FFG roleplaying games as well. And more campaigns would be nice. I’m not really down with a pint sized SSD. Regardless of the sliding scale, I still think it has to be too big to be playable. So, I can be patient. And with all that is going on with X-Wing and Legion, it’s a good thing, because I suspect we’re in for even more of a wait before something new comes out for Armada. Still, I’m not giving up on it, and if FFG does find time for a new product, I’ll eager gobble it up. They haven’t lost me and don’t need to jump through hoops to get me back.

Tector, Braha'tok, and wingless Liberty. Finishing OT ships would keep me smiling?. In the meantime, I'm just bulking out my forces during the "weight wait"

Since there was a fair amount of various sports analysis, does golf get any world wide appeal or is it more of just a former British colonies thing?

"by pretending this never happened and never expecting a company to want to make money I've managed to keep my expectations in line". You're on a weird mix of battered spouse and unrealistic consumer perspective. /shrug, have fun playing the game you love with yourself if things keep going the way they are?

This is the type of libertarian argument that drives me nuts. By saying "they don't owe you anything" it's like it alleviates their poor business practices. "They might have enslaved all those people, but hey, they don't owe you anything". At no point did anyone say "I demand FFG give me what I'm owed". What we are saying is we're probably going to quit the game if these ****tards don't actually put out some product.

I wonder how libertarians get around on their compounds without roads.

We use jetpacks, at least when the transporters are offline. :)

I guess I am more patient about the release schedule. If nothing comes out for two years then new movies come out with relevant content that can be incorporated, I’ll be in line to buy it. I’m not in it for the thrill rush of new content, I’m still casually explorer things that are already out. I’m certainly not going to sell off my collection because I didn’t get a nice new shiny bobble this month. The game is fantastic. The models have other uses, too. While I’d like to see new content, I’d also prefer we don’t get fringe stuff for the sake of maintaining a release schedule. I want iconic ships that fit into the game. If I wanted the ship of the month club, I would have gotten into Star Trek Attack Wing.

Watch hurling if you need a sport. As fast as ice hockey, as thrilling as formula one. Other sports bore me after watching the game. For the soccer world cup wondering whether the Russian or English fans riot first.

Germans, probably, after today.

Excitement, will be right there when the next release is announced.

Trust, is a bit more subjective. I trust FFG to try to make money.

Legion is their big push into GW territory, Armada is an established game. X-wing is their baby, and was in desperate need of an overhaul. Armada has plenty of options now for FFG to let them simmer. There is no way any one person has honestly played out all the fun fleet designs that are possible.

I still think Armada is being held back to make Legion sales rank closer to GW on the list of best selling games this year. If Armada has to have a lower sales year for that to happen, so be it.

Honestly, the biggest issue for the Armada community is the absolutely craptastic PR department when it comes to Armada. They have gone beyond the months of neglect we had come to accept, and moved squarely into just plain insulting, with the Hyperspace incident!

Honestly, FFG would get all kinds of Trust and Excitement from me if they publicly fired and replaced whatever idiots were in charge of the press release for the hyperspace report, and the moron in charge of PR for Armada. I may even go an entire month without asking about the SSD! ;)

I'm still excitied. Just gearing up for a CC Campaign with W7 stuff.

What is it with Europe whining about football and baseball and not understanding that its about US cities competing amongst each other and not the rest of the world. Enjoy your soccer we're fine over here without it.

Because you call a game that is mainly played in one country a 'world series'...... I mean if its only US cities why call it that?

Who cares? Is this something the rest of the world actually cares about? Does it keep you up at night? Noone else but like...Japan even plays baseball.

You know what makes me nuts? Bringing politics into a forum about plastic space ships. Leave that shitery at the door please. It only makes a bad situation worse.

Isn't a Wingless Liberty Home One?

Just cos it's not important and doesn't keep anyone up at night doesn't mean it's not a legitimate criticism. Calling something "World X" when it only includes the US does suggest (rightly or wrongly, you'd need to know the history of the name to be sure) a degree of arrogance (or something similar) on the part of the people naming it.

Pretty much. And im not sure what material difference there is between a winged & wingless either for that matter.

I prefer women's soccer because they are more likely to keep playing when someone steps inside their personal bubble. All the acting in men's soccer is pathetic. Plus the US women team is way better than the US men team.

Isnt the US womens Soccer consistently top ranked? Seems like the perfect way to get americans invested.

Generally, the women do very well. As usual, it's the marketing that fails them. If we advertised it more, I think soccer would do much better in the us. I know a lot of die hard fans that watch it more than every four years....
