. . . make it to second edition?
Or are Deathtroopers in 2e the only real stress control mechanic right now?

No stressbot in 2nd
There is Asajj, spend force to stress in mobile arc
Don't know about others
4-LOM can also pass one of his stress tokens to an enemy at range 1. So dealing stress exists, but it seems to be toned down from First Edition.
i think they mentioned at some point they want stress mitigation to be limited.
Asajj still has it but she trades her force for it so less focus mods if needed or less use of whatever force ability she has equipped. So its a trade off, plus thats one pilot that has access to it rather than literally any droid user
Stressbot was stupid from the get go because every ship that could use him literally gave no craps about the negative side of it.
Not yet.
If he ever does, I'd be shocked if he's not limited to working when unstressed, as he really should be in 1e.
Hmm yeah that could work.
Only works if unstressed AND only has two charges that do not reload.

At very least, like Hera in 2E.
"You can execute red maneuvers even while stressed. After you fully execute a Red Maneuver, if you have 3 or more stress tokens, remove 1 stress token and suffer 1 regular damage." I'm so glad that they put an upper limit on Hera (as well as the force point limit on Ezra). If Stressbot makes it, or likewise Overclocked R4, I'd include a similar restriction.
Personally, that's kinda the top of my list for parting errata in 1E: put the "Primed Thrusters" restriction of 3 or fewer stress on each of R3-A2, Hera, and Overclocked R4 (a very problematic card in itself, which never got nerfed, because they nerfed the rug out from under the rest of the lists instead; Manaroo/Zuckuss nerf killed Dengaroo, even if this went untouched, and ultimately the JMK5000 droid removal killed it in Attanni lists).
Instead of just taking a stress it could be: take a stress and one critical damage.
He took a hit with Integrated Astromech and got ejected ...
