Desert Shock Troopers

By mr_mithrandir, in Painting

Got my second squad of Snowtroopers and decided to paint them in a slightly different scheme. Both have a similar armor base, but these are going to be "Desert Shock Troopers". Bases are not finished but will be desert themed. Still learning some techniques. I did Nuln Oil for the eyes this time.

Pleasantly gritty.

Looks good! I'm increasingly of the opinion that what we've been thinking of as "snowtroopers" have really been "assault troopers" this whole time. These guys look great in brown and white.

Awesome colour scheme mate.

Agreed!

Or 'extreme environment' troopers; the same climate control suit which keeps you warm on Hoth can keep you cool on Tatooine; real life spacesuits have to protect astronauts from +200 degrees C in the sunlight, down to -200 in the shade...

No, I like mine better. I look at these guys and equate them with Clone Wars era ARC Troopers. What with the skirted uniforms, the nothing-slows-them-down movement style, the flamethrower; to me these guys are the non-clone successors to the ARC Troopers. The only time we see Stormtroopers in a true assault situation is on Hoth, so why couldn't they just be the way Assault style Troopers are? The Solo film would seem to back this up as the Imperial Army Troopers were wearing a rather similar get-up to the troopers we see on Hoth. I'm suggesting that the usual Stormtrooper Corps uniform is white and the Imperial Army uniform is black (or maybe a dark olive that was just very dirty with black mud). But, of course, there are all sorts of reasons that could be varied.
