Round 1 Rally unless facing Ravos. Waiqar don’t worry about being quick on turn 1

With inspiration, you can sequence:

DK1 attack and Dispatch. DK2 attacks and gets stun

DK2 clears stun with inspiration, reveals attack and skill.

It isnt sustainable, but it doesn’t need to be. I paid 14 points (a Lancer) to trigger two additional attacks on threat 3 cav units. That extra 18-ish damage was more than a Lancer would manage.

Worst case, against a Ravos or Vorun’Thul, you still can trigger it once and get probably 9 damage out of those 14 points.

Yeah, neither Death Knight's or Dispatch runner likes Ravos. His total circumvation of their defensive ability drives me nuts. Also, Spined threshers' cheap threat 3 + dial in hit chews Death knights as well. And if the "wrong"morale card is drawn (Threshers almost always has 2 strength and there are a lot of baddies there) and they get reformed, they are NOT happy at all. Though if you get the charge and 2 stable runes you might kill of a Thresher before they hit.

Your build seem to be able to handle Berserkers and Flesh rippers well even though the dial in mortal strike won't do much.

I'll just have to try it :)

If the Death Knights are sporting Duskblade, then Ravos and Threshers are half health. That's even scarier :)

Lacey WA regionals were this weekend. 7 Players, 4 Daqan, 2 Latari, 1 Uthuk, narrow Daqan win. Recording here, courtesy of @Brikhause

First place Daqan, 22 tournament points - 196/200

Lord Hawthorne [34] 1x1
Total Unit Cost: 34

Oathsworn Cavalry [46] 2x3 (changed to 3x2)
Forged In Battle [4]
Total Unit Cost: 50

Outland Scouts [32] 2x2 (changed to 4x1)
Seasoned Pathfinder [4]
Rank Discipline [4]
Total Unit Cost: 40

Oathsworn Cavalry [34] 2x2 (changed to 4x1)
Rank Discipline [4]
Total Unit Cost: 38

Heavy Crossbowmen [27] 3x1
Tempered Steel [3]
Rank Discipline [4]
Total Unit Cost: 34

The original plan was to test Coiled Stance on 3x2 Oathsworn, but I could not resist the idea of 4x1 Seasoned Pathfinder Scouts, and while I was at it, more Oathsworn. The list played... ok, such wide units are of course difficult to control precisely, but my aggressive bid gave me enough control of terrain that it wasn't a big issue. The 3x2 Forged in Battle Oathsworn were great, with the rounds lining up to more or less replace casualties, while the 4x1 were dangerous but unwieldy. Scouts were real weird, fairly successful but so new that it's very hard to say how they'll be once people are more used to their popping out of nowhere. Only 2 terrain certainly felt bad, and starting October when two of three deployments have that I think they'll be on the shelf. A fun, extremely aggressive list, but not what I'd call a serious contender.

Second place Uthuk, 21 tournament points - 200/200

Berserkers [37] 3x2
Bloodfire Witch [5]
Warsprinter [3]
Aggressive Shrieker [5]
Total Unit Cost: 50

Kethra Alaak [34] 1x1
Fortunas Dice [6]
Bonecaster [8]
Total Unit Cost: 48

Spined Threshers [48] 2x2
Ravos the Everhungry [13]
Scuttling Horror [3]
Total Unit Cost: 64

Flesh Rippers [38] 2x2
Total Unit Cost: 38

Didn't get to play against it unfortunately, but it sounded like Kethra was doing some good work.

I believe @xelveki was 3rd?

You got it right, I had no idea you were @kaffis , our fight was my favorite of the day, so very technical!

I will get the full batreps up soonish, I moved this weekend so waiting for internet in my new place to upload 50some pics.

It was a great time and congrats on pulling second!

I kept thinking about Forged in Battle as a boost to your unit you had to wait for. Makes a lot more sense to think of it as an upgrade that's filling in your ranks and threat as you get weaker throughout the game. (Even goes in the order you'd expect.. ranks first, threat second)

Yeah, it's nice if you can afford to sit around and get stronger, but the truth of the matter, fighting like a 4x3 isn't THAT much better than 3x2, but 3x2 is insanely better than 2x1. In that respect, it's most valuable on small units (small by round 6, which still leaves 3/8 rounds of brutal)

I completely brain farted and forgot you said you were coming with Church until I was driving home, so yeah... That was a great game and it was a pleasure meeting and playing you (and playing Church since we didn't match up at GenCon)!

Finally played in my local Regional today. Sadly there was only three of us, two of our regular players couldn't make it. So it way my Daqan vs two Uthuk players. Won my first game, lost my second. So ended 1-1 and second place. Got all the cool prizes so I'm happy.

Do you have lists? I'm curious about what the Uthuk were running. I'd also be interested in hearing a summary of your first game, even if it isn't turn-by-turn detailed.

I don't remember both lists, my first opponent @Tarquillaman3285 had Ravos and Kethra if I remember correctly. A brick of beserkers with a Spined Thresher inbeded. It was Confluence of Magic on Meeting Engagement. It was a super close game and I didn't even realize until round 7 I had a shot of winning on points.

My 2nd Uthuk opponent drove down from the Boston area and was a great guy to play with, even for an Uthuk player, lol. He had Kethra, but no Ravos. Also had two 2x1 Spined Thresher, Beserkers and Flesh Rippers. It was Demoralize Their Forces on Unprepared I believe.
