Hi,

I'm interested in figuring out if I like the game and what army might suit my style before I invest in it. Do people play on Vassal or Table Top Simulator?

Short answer: no. I think your best bet is to post here and try to set up a game that way.

Scratch that. Your BEST bet is to find a local game store and get in touch with the local community. Vassal and TTS are nice, but I use it mostly to play with my brother who moved away. The Vassal module is still a work in progress, but Daqan and Waiqar are completely playable. I'm working on painting up some Uthuk so I can have @tgall use them in the Vassal Runewars module. I should have finished by now, but I keep getting distracted painting other things.

I just can't get behind TTS. I have tried multiple times with @Budgernaut , but the table inevitably devolves into a whirlwind of chaos as the physics engine goes berserk. Very much looking forward to more units in Vassal.

I'm willing to try either system, I do have TTS though and have played about with the Runewars mod, but never played against anyone. I have never used Vassal before so would probably need to learn/be taught to use it.

@tgall was working on getting this into Vassal. I'm not sure how far along it got?

@Zetan has done a TON of work on the TTS mod, and (as someone who generally dislikes gaming on a PC) it's actually not bad once you get your settings to your liking. By my second game I was able to get through it without any major issues, and he is continuing to make improvements. We'll be streaming another game, hopefully soon, so you can see what it's like if you are interested. Or hop on our Discord and set up a game with someone!

Waiqar, Daqan and Latari are all quite playable. Uthuk I have roughed in... something about graphics. ?

For me TTS just doesn't work well on my hardware/OS combo, I'm not a windows guy so that might be part of it. I dunno. I got extremely frustrated and moved on. It is a slight bummer to see a fractured community in this way as I'd like to do like the Armada community does and hold tournaments through vassal.

@tgall I am not anti-Vassal in any way...I do use it for X-Wing. I would hope that most people would be open to using both, and that as a community we don't limit ourselves to using only one or the other. I think if someone ran a tournament through either one, people would go there and play, unless the platform really doesn't work for them for some reason.

Good points. And high time we do just that.

I have some problems with Vassal. Well, it's a QOL problem. When I have to rotate a unit, I have to select the action multiple times with the right mouse button because the hotkey designated for it it's not accesible in my keyboard. It's the bracket key, that in my keyboard I have to push the shift key to use it and it seems that Vassal not recognise it.

Ahhh ok! Thanks for the bug report. I'll fix that!
