People who draw him, either alone, as the best of a bad pool or, as in my current OL SoB campaign, people who draw him as the only mage in their 12 heroes so have to pick him even though there is a better hero in his pool.

Eh, we've house-ruled in the campaigns that if the group as a collective want to redraw, they can (i.e. all 12 heroes put back in the hero pile, shuffled, new 12 heroes drawn). It's the same as saying "We give up, let's start over," right away, that way in such a long game the hero players at least have a decent chance of playing someone they like.

we have a 'mulligan' call. If you have an attack type with no hero better than 1 dice then you can mulligan. But otherwise, its play your draw. But tis is one player running 4 heroes, so a bit different from one person being stuck with a hero they hate.

The main gripe is the whole "being stuck" with a certain hero for such a LONG game. Last thing I want to do is discourage my friends from playing, so at the very least, allowing a few draws as a group gives them the feeling that they got a decent pick.
