Rexler looks great! I've used him in the past but never used his ability - I just took him for the higher PS. I like this new version.
I already miss Vessery though.

I've gotten Rexlar to work with Expertise since it frees up his focus use, but the dude reaches 40pts so quick and a defender is not worth that much points.
Even so, majority of the time i either only hit shields or flatout killed the ship anyway lol. I think i actually used his ability 3 times in my entire life...
Glad to see it change. TECHNICALLY its weaker since its only 1 card, but its passive now (just need to HAVE an evade token, not spend it)

Against fighters his ability almost never triggered as they died fast where he shined was against big ships where losing agility or not being able to take an action could prove fatal.

No.

Not anymore....
I wonder if Maarek Stele (TIE Defender) will still be a pilot. His ability is fun, but sort of similar to Brath's, and he has my favourite art in the game.

My god, I want that so much.
I do wonder how well Vessery will work now that he lost one of his best wingmen.
I liked rexler, but this reveal makes me sad. from the spoiled rebel list we seem to be able to expect each ship to only have 4 pilots with the exception of the most iconic ships. So I think vessery is gone
and maarek will stay in his other ship, unless we luck out and they only make one generic for the defender. really hope one generic so at least one of my favorite wingmates for ryad makes it over with her

I think the defender is likely to get a repack soon, since it was featured in rebels, and it has new canon pilots. As well as a new configuration.

I hope they do a remodel and make it the new stretched out version, would love to get a different model than the 4
i already have

As someone who has not watched rebels(yet). What config would it have?

the first one in the show looks like it would be close to the tie/d, like the model we got. the later version though had the wings more squished and elongated so it looked more sleek and fast, making it seem like it was the tie/x7

Between the Advanced and the revamped Lambda title, he should still be fine assuming he made the jump.

It got an upgrade to the Defender Elite.

No longer able to block 4 is big, especially given that torps and missiles seem likely to be more common and well modified. There's a lot more token denial. There's a likely to be a lot more ships, generally, so being able to lean on 2 tokens for 2 incoming shots seems less good.
The chances of rolling all paint on three green dice is like... 30%? Less, I think. So more than 70% of the time you're just as well off with the new Evade rules. It's up to the individual whether they consider that worse, a little worse, or a lot worse. It's worth noting that the odds change to like 15% when you don't have a focus token to spend.
I'm really excited for Rexler. Was hands down my favorite defender. A little iffy on how brutal he will be since I5 will be easy to predict and block. Juke is nice but he NEEDS that evade then.
He (and defenders in general) will be in a world of hurt if lower PS jam action becomes meta though!
You know, I was afraid that Rexler would get nerfed. I really was. I was hoping they'd port his ability over whole and unaltered. I didn't expect them to pick a very reasonable middle of the road, or for it to actually get better. On the surface it may seem he got weakened, since he's not flipping all the damage cards. But I say this: I love Rexler basically more than any other pilot in the game. I flew him CONSTANTLY. Even when people said Defenders were no good for their cost, I'd slap an HLC on that sucker and give him Predator and laugh at every TLT and Miranda build I flew against. And with all that experience, even I must admit that MAYBE his ability came into play one game in every two or three. And of those times, maybe one in two of those would be pivotal. Worse, sometimes you'd get rolls like (h)(h)(f)(f) or (h)(h)(h)(f) where you really have to choose between saving your focus token for his ability (but risking a good evade roll that makes it pointless) or spending the token and then his ability was pointless. Worse still is when you regret it later, rolling focuses on the evade rolls that come down the line. This looks like you'll be getting his ability to trigger multiple times per game, and it also rewards flying well because avoiding blockers will get you your Full Throttle. I feel like I'm really gonna love flying him in 2.0. And that was really important for me to be able to say. I can breathe easy now, knowing my favorite pilot is still worth it.
As a side note, I'm also happy with the new Wampa. He'll present an interesting opportunity cost for the opponent: fire at Wampa and deny his extra die, or fire at another, more important piece like Howlrunner. Bonus points if you fly him at the head of the Squadron so he's range 1 while the more important piece is held back. Something tells me he'll pair well with Versio.
With the price hike they are giving the Defenders they had better give them access to the System slot (which should have been an Imperial only slot). Advanced Sensors is unfortunately trash, but FCS and Collision Detector should be fun on them. That said, if worst comes to worst you could always AdvSens an Evade if you were going to bump if you're paranoid enough to waste the points on it.

Man, AS on a ship with boost and barrel roll that gets bonuses for completing a maneuver seems like a great idea. FCS is great, too, but I don't think it's a cut and dry decision.

Advanced Sensors stops you from performing any more actions, Full Throttle is an action, and is thus shut down by Adv Sens if you use it.

Ugh, I thought it was the same restriction as 1.0. That's disappointing.

I for one am glad. Things getting ridiculously powerful like that is what killed 1.0. Now, its strength is gonna rely on my skill. ![]()
