I can think of several different Imperial archetypes...but what about Rebels?

By groggydog, in Army Building

So I'm taking a look at the general early meta, while we're here with limited troop options. For the Empire, I can think of at least three distinct list archetypes: Veers + bikes, Vader & Veers, and Veers Walks the Dogs (plus a generic fourth Vader & whatever).

But for Rebels, all I can think of is Luke & Leia, 5 troopers, and 2 AT-RTs. Are there other viable Rebel lists being run out there?

Rebels dont need other lists. Rebels have the option to run all of their best units in the same list. The imperials have to pick there commander out of their two and are foced to make their list based on that. Vader and bikes or veers and bikes or veers and at-st's.

Imagine if imperials could run vader, veers, 5 dlt stormtroopers, and 2 speeder bikes.

Throw in an AT-ST and that sounds like a glorious grand army!

I mean... They can... It's exactly that, but they can do it...

Yeah but you need saber throw and force reflexes on vader. So take away 2 DLTs.

I was just being a bit pedantic, sorry. You obviously have to make sacrifices somewhere. Empire units are more expensive, yes, but in the case of troopers, they have more staying power over rebels. For bikes you have to pay for the mobility and firepower somehow, and that is with the cost and the fragility. I know that in most situations, I would rather have bikes than an AT-RT, and some of the cost is reflected in that.

If the Empire units don't seem worth it, then it might just be a playstyle difference, not necessarily a balance issue.
