I can see how it could be confusing out of context, but it's almost exactly the language used on the back of 1.0 expansions. They probably shouldn't have used the word "another," because I don't think many people will realize the other first x-wing the sentence is referring to is the one in the core set.

That’s why I figured I better read the article. Also thane is crazy powerful against the empire...I like xwings being butch but I see why in the quick builds they put shields on ties. Damage manipulation looks like it may be going from rolling a fistfull of dice to flipping cards. Crits are going to be brutal if all you need is the damage there to turn it into a crit.

Mighty Palpatine save us by using your all powerful gifts to stop card flipping lol

I'm looking at the art for Thane and can't help but think that his ship should be taking serious damage from that engine wash.

That's not how it works.. think of your base squadron as being what you get in the core set. Buying this expansion lets you add another ship.

Not everything is written for or applies to those of us who have been playing for a while.

The pack they handed out at worlds had 6 pilot cards, three double sided chits (one side for each pilot) and a single dial, so unless this is a different pack, it doesn't have extras.

You deal another facedown, then flip Direct Hit. If it flips up, get another face down and flip it back down. This way the total damage is simply how many damage cards are on it.

No that’s the standard wording they’ve used for every expansion. They mean “we give you everything needed to fly this model in the same box”

So are a ship's upgrade slots only shown on the online app along with the points value? Because I don't see them on the card at all.

Yes. This allows them to more easily remove slots from overpowered ships, as well as potentially add slots to an underperforming ship.

What I want to know is what exactly Thane hopes to accomplish by shooting a bunch of blaster bolts into the Star Destroyers engines. I mean, presumably, if the metal there can withstand the heat of all that engine wash then it is going to have no problem with a few piddly laser bolts.

(... although with Thane’s pilot ability I guess he doesn’t need to actually hit anything critical. So long as he can just get a good look at his target he can break something important in it... )

His ability is very nice, and I know I personally appreciate not having to **** with green dice and cutting straight to the goods, but you're generally giving up a relevent die result to flip damage cards that have to have already been there before you fired

Unless your opponent just won't be taking damage (or you're sitting at two hits v reinforce) the ability isn't actually reliably better than just doing one more damage.

So it's great, and something any dice-cursed bastard such as myself can appreciate, but it's not THAT good

Is that such a big deal? OK, it saves him spending a focus (assuming he rolls only one eye) but other than that it’s the same as just including the hit. Seems to me it would be more appealing on ships with high agility, since it bypasses the greens, but those ships are far less likely to have damage cards. I think it’s a good ability but it’s not huge.

It's poorly worded for sure. Especially now, when there are still a lot of unanswered questions about he ratio of generic pilots to dials included in the conversion kits, etc. With all of the 1.0 players out there, "another X-Wing" can easily read as "it included components for this and one additional ship." Bad choice of wording, sadly.

It's strong but not too ridiculous. Yes, you have to wait for a damage card to be there but once it's there it's going to get frustrating fast. Forcing the two-stress or the ion damage cards will be strong control options, any of the ones that increase damage (direct hit, console fire, fuel leak, etc) will be good, and then there's the chance of accelerating a decent attack full of hit results with Hull Breach. Range 1 on a low agility ship, that could certainly be possible.
