First time GM, looking to make npcs

By Von3679, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Hi. So this is my first time ever playing the force and destiny games with my friends and I'm going to be the gm as I'm the only one who has really gone through the core rulebook. So I was wondering, how should I create solid npcs, who can last? For eg, at the moment, I have 2 inquisitors in mind. One will follow the characters through the story, while the other will be the endgame boss in a sense. So I was hoping someone could help me flesh out some of the stats and stuff they should have. Here is the inquisitor i made to follow the characters through.

Character name: Vaylon Surrash
Species: Chiss
Career: Inquisitor

Soak: 8
Wounds: 25
Strain:24
Defense:1

Brawn: 5
Agility:3
Intellect:3
Cunning: 3
Willpower: 4
Presence: 2

Combat skills:
Lightsaber(brawn): 4
Melee: 3
Brawl: 2

Knowledge skills:
Core worlds: 2
Education: 2
Lore: 2
Outer rim: 2
Xenology: 2
Underworld: 2

General skills:
Cool: 2
Coordination: 3
Deception: 3
Medicine:1
Stealth: 4
Vigilance:2

Talents:
Adversary3
Parry4
Lethal blows 2

Abilities/force powers:
Intimidating presence
Terrifying
Imperial valor
Infravision

Equipment:
Twin Lightsabers: each dmg 6, crit 2, range: engaged, reach 1, sunder

Armoured robes: soak +3, defense+1

Force rating: 1

I hope someone can help me make some npcs! Thanks!

The Order66 podcast NPC deli episode gives way better advice than i can give.

The Force Rating 1 is a real head-scratcher. I mean you don't have any actual/standard Force Powers listed so maybe they won't need to use it, but that FR is not appropriate from a narrative perspective for an Inquisitor (whom I would say should have at least 3, but probably 4 spending on their veneration and depending on how you're working Powers, ie are you predefining them, or just playing it like "they have the Powers that they need/I want them to as they emerge from the encounters gameplay"). A youngling has a Force Rating 1.

Also, no Reflect? That's a huge weakness, as Ranged is where the bulk of damage is capable of/likely to come from.

Aside from that, the limits of action economy are still gonna make this guy a push over. Make sure - at a minimum - you're giving this Inquisitor 2 Initiative Slots (as per the optional rule), but really I'd recommend giving them at least one large/strong Minion Group, or Battle Droid, or (preferably) several middle-ground strength henchmen to "draw fire".

Also, use the narrative elements of the game (Destiny Points, Triumph, Advantage/Threat) to constantly manipulate the environment to the benefit of your BBEGs.

To create/get into Cover from Ranged attacks.

To create Difficult Terrain for the PCs to navigate.

To create darkness/low-light conditions.

To give your BBEG higher-ground (Boost to attack, or PC Setback for Defense).

To bring "Innocents" (NPCs) into danger (forcing the PCs to either save those Innocents or attack the BBEG - and get Conflict for letting people die).

To "summon" Minion Groups/more enemies to draw fire.

To escape (to leap onto a passing Imperial air-skimmer that they called in).

And so on...

Soak, Wounds, Parry, etc. are only a small part of making BBEGs survivable (and interesting).

Mobility is VERY important for survivability as well (Force Power: Enhance w/ Leap upgrades)... You can't live to fight another day, if you can't escape.

Ah ok i see... i did not put reflect as i was planning on making him appear as a jedi hunter and is used to fighting jedi eith sabers. I put in imperial valor as a way to handle the ranged damage though as i plan to create a small group of deathtroopers to support him.

Here is the second one i made, hope it is better?

Character Name: Lecaete
Species: Miraluka
Gender: female
Career: inquisitor(assassin)

Soak: 7
Wounds: 25
Strain: 24
Defense: 1
Force rating: 3

Brawn: 4
Agility: 5
Intelligence: 2
Cunning: 3
Willpower: 3
Presence: 3

Athletics: 2
Cool: 3
Coordination: 3
Medicine: 1
Vigilance: 2

Lightsaber: 4
Brawl: 2
Melee: 3

Talents:
Parry 4
Adversary 3
Lethal blows 2
Reflect 4

Abilities:
Force sight
Intimidating presence
Lightsaber mastery(agility)
Move
Force enchance
