I am a senator in the game i am playing.. But the gm and i are looking for salaries.. What would a senators salary be ... Of even just a guesstimate would be great
Pay grade for a senator?
I doubt the Republic pays them, so to me it would depend on where you are from. As one you'd have access to generous diplomatic quarters, support staff, and such though.
One option would be..none. Or not near as much as one might think.
Some could view it as a service to the people. With that said, a senator need to eat and all that, so all food, lodging, wardrobe, etc could all be provided as well as a minor "personal stipend" for whatever the senator wanted for him/her/itself.
Might be the easiest way to handle in an RPG, unless everyone else has independent incomes. Not necessarily the best option, but one a GM a while back did for me.
I expect it would vary by the planet, though the Empire might provide basic housing and a security detail upon request.
They're probably paid by the sector that they represent.
I would guess that Core Worlds and wealthier systems could be paying in the range of 100,000 credits/year.
Poorer Rim worlds could be something like 40,000 credits/year.
Coruscant is a very expensive place to live, so they'll need solid pay.
Paid by the planet/system/sector they represent.
Likely pretty good, I'd toss around 150,00-250,000 per year as a conservative estimate.
Bear in mind that is just personal pay. Government provided resources will include everything from a penthouse on Coruscant, to a Corvette sized transport, to a full staff and expense acc
If you're looking for in-game money a good suggestion is just to take entrepreneur and load up on those Sound Investment talents. Free 500 credits per session just for being you.
Now that I think of it, there have been Senators in those 500 Republica apartments. Yeah, they're probably paid quite well.
Don't forget the biggest source of revenue for senators. Rampant corruption from bribes and graft. Sell your votes to the highest bidder, keep friendly to the anti-railing lobby, sign off on making Wookiees and Mon Cala labeled as non-sentients so that their assets can be confiscated.
The rampant corruption of the Senate is well known. Makes it easy to earn extra cash unless you have some sort of morals or ethics.

It’s also possible that you don’t need to figure out the exact number depending on the type of campaign you’re playing. Let’s assume that your character’s involvement in the campaign is supposed to be more or less secret (you wouldn’t want people to extort you in an EotE campaign, you need to hide your activities from the empire in an AoR campaign). With that in mind, you can’t just spend a ton of your salary to accomplish things in the campaign (buying weapons for the whole team, a new ship, etc) without drawing attention. So I would just assume your character has a nice place to live close to the senate, plenty to eat, free official travel, a cool wardrobe, a staff of aides and advisors, etc.
Otherwise, I think a senator actually would make a bit of money (some salary and some bribery), so I’d go with the higher estimates above. You’d be either the elected or appointed sole representative for anywhere from a few hundred thousand to a billion people, part of a decision making body that influences galactic trade.
Thank you all..
Loads if you're human... sweet F.A. if you're any other species
