For the record, the last time we had something new announced for Armada was Jan 17th

By Hrathen, in Star Wars: Armada

The MC75 was announced for Armada on January 17th.

I get that since that time we FFG has given their Star Wars fans Legion, and announced X-wing 2.0. And anounced so much for those two games, and those are the only two Star Wars FFG games that I follow. There has also been plenty of stuff for IA and Destiny.

Honestly I am a little worried. FFG also anounced today that they were going to discontinue Netrunner. I don’t play Netrunner, but I knew a lot of people who thought it was a really solid game. This announcement tells me that FFG is willing to, for what ever reasons, die. I am not in on FFG board meetings, I have no idea I’d Armada is pulling its weight financially. Also with Legion some Armada customers are going to have lest to spend on Armada if they are buying up Legion, or more X-wing stufff.

Maybe I am worried about nothing. Maybe we are getting a new First Order vs Resistance starter set, or some other major shake up for our game, but FFG just doesn’t want it to compete with its other big Star Wars properties, so it isn’t going to be anounced until after X-wing 2.o comes out. But that is months away. We can’t wait that long. We are ready for a shake up, or at least something to get us excited about the game again.

Netrunner is ending I'm pretty sure because a license got pulled. I don't think it was their choice. Kinda like with Warhammer before.

My money is on a big series of announcements that bring prequel era content to Armada, and 2.xw.

Maybe a lot of effort's gone into Legion and X-Wing because they are (or are expected to be) the great big cash grabs for FFG in the coming years.

Armada might have been the next thing to challenge Warhammer's ilk with grand table top strategy games but... it just didn't click. Star Wars isn't associated with big spaceship combat games- more people identify with stormtrooper shootouts with the main heroes and dynamic Battle-of-yavin or battle-of-endor starfighter triumphs.

That said we are a community willing to land $40-$50 per unit and buy in multiples... so there is that. Thing is, we don't buy enough of that. Legion's modeling scene will entice hobbygoers to buy the models for dioramas, and somehow a hobby following sprang up around X-Wing because it's the only thing doing what it does at that scale, so those two lines will be selling a lot for reasons other than the game.

Personally I hope Armada stays around for a long while because I enjoy the depth and complexity of the game, and the miniatures are beautiful and unparalleled by just about anything else. The reason Mel's spaceships are as popular as they are is because people want those ships in this game. And I'm here because I want to do something fun with my minis instead of keeping them docked on the shelf collecting dust.

This is EXACTLY it.

FFG is the party hurt by this. They just revamped it, and committed to basically reviewing and improving the game... FFG has poured money, time and effort into it - and WOTC decided they wanted their license back, which, basically, I’d therir prerogative.

If Armada were to “die” the same way - XWing, IA, Legion... they’d all die at the same time, as they are all encompassed, presumably, under the same license.

If you want to get worked up about the potential of Arnada death - don’t look to Netrunners ending. It’s irrelevant.

Tge more poignant one to look at is the Star Wars LCG wrapped up earlier.

wasn't the mc75 announced in late august? like the 28th or something? that was our "something big is coming" that they then lied and said wasn't the big thing but then offered literally nothing to support something else big coming. Lol their "something big is coming" expired for august, if it was food it would have mold by now. it's possible, maybe likely, that something is coming, but it's not the august announcement, because that boat has ******* sailed.

good luck with the hope that something new is coming for armada, at this point FFG can't even get tournaments announced before they happen.

He said "announced," but I think he meant...uh...I don't know what the word is, but further details were released in January. Like number of dice in its arcs, and defense tokens, and all its titles, I think. https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2018/1/3/profundity/

Yes. further detailed. But I think I would agree with the OP that the Profundity article in January was the last announcement of a new product. Further details were released on the MC75, and new upgrade cards that we didn't know about previously. I think the Armada community would welcome anything at this point, even just to know what some upgrade cards will be in Wave 8. ?

Dont forget those who just buy the ships to have them on the shelf. They are one of the best looking out there.

Previewed. January is when we got previews.

Currently, I don’t have time to play this game since wave 2. However I have both factions and two of each ship, except for new ids, mc75, pelta, and the empires carrier. The most repeats for the ship I have are the nebs and cr-90.

I ve been creeping the site, and currently all I’ve been seeing is doom and gloom posts. When prior there were great topics that discussed topics and game play.

What I want to point out tho is has and one played or heard of axis and allies war at sea? The corporate office killed off the game after five waves even while the dev time had a new list and cards designed, the actual plastic weren’t made yet. Guess what happened the community banded together. And they had developers like Mel who designed ships on shapeways, the need up as a community and some of the playtesters from the organization released the cards that would have been wave six. The community has remained strong and has been going strong for years now the have released four more waves even tho they don't have a company who ended up abondened them...

August, you mean ?

Noted

At this point even just a we are still working on something thanks for your patience would be great to hear.

Sure, August, whatever. My point is that it has been a long time. I am a little worried about the future of the game. And more than a little sad that the game has had so little attention from FFG. I am sure that FFG is doing this for reasons.

Yup, August since a new announcement--that is, what we're waiting for now.

Yes, that means we're coming up on a year since anything new was announced. I'm a pretty **** stalwart Armada fanboy, and even I'm starting to get worn down by three years of being shat on and ignored by FFG.

I say we become pirates and take over all the X-wing 2.0 boats for ransom!

First article teases, second article spoils. In other games where they get third articles, those hype.

I had a similar thought, just with armada. We should buy it from ffg, and produce our own ships:D

If you know what I mean... :D

Everyone in our area not a dedicated fanboy dropped off a while back... it's lonely carrying the torch these days

I’m just amazed they are not saying anything.

Even a ‘sorry guys been busy with other stuff but planning something for around X’.

That would do.

They have long traditions for NOT doing that kind of thing

At best they'll toss out some light articles to keep the masses docile if it looks like they'll set fire to the forums (last happened over the wave 7 delay).

First expectation creates disappointment, if we stop expecting a preview article we will not be disappointed when it doesn't show up.

Secondly we know how FFG market their games, they love to focus everything on their newest game to the exclusion of everything else, they are clearly worried that if they show us that something is coming for Armada we will not spend on the new shiny 2nd Ed Xwing (I don't think they know us as well as they should, clearly we will do both if we can if we can't afford then we wouldn't buy Xwing anyway). We will get that preview some time close to when they are ready to ship Xwing at that point they will have effectively sold most of the unit on preorders and know that the majority of the stock will shift (my preferred supper has run out of preorder on the scum and I just took the last pre order on the core). Look what happened with IA, they went about the same time with out anything, when legion hype train was well underway they announced the next wave for IA (need to preorder that too).

Then take a look at their upcoming products, we know they have limited capacity to produce the stock for a new wave and as Armada and X wing both come pre painted, if they had announced a new wave for Armada in January we would be wait for it for most of the year, we will be lucky to get product in our hands this side of Christmas, and much as we would like a preview as soon as we see the new shiny we want it, we would replace the "where's our preview?" with "where's our wave?" and FFG have always struggled to make their own release dates, if they set it a year away we wouldn't be happy.

So Armada isn't dead, no we haven't had any preview, we will get on likely in the next three months, yes that sucks but we have a slower release rate which so far has been good for the game.

FFG is still supporting organised play and still reprinting Armada stock (raider, light cruiser and Rebel fighters in in reprint, wish they would reprint hammerheads, they sold out in UK almost on release).

We are just going to have to be patient and entertain ourselves on the forums till we get something we can speculate about.

Personally I am rounding out my collection nicely and I am a relative new comer, and as I have now started filling gaps in my Imperial after stating I would only collect rebels I have a ton of fleets I want to try, it could take me years to try out all the fleets I have written so far.

Oh boy. This reminds me of the death of Mechwarrior: Dark Age back in the day.
