I'll second the Loremaster quizzes. Really funny. Makes me want to be on one.

Either ping Bruno on Facebook or bug @catachanninja until he picks you as a challenger!

Shuttle Tydirium is my favorite, no question, with Gold Squadron coming in right behind.

I'll admit it's my favorite, too. There are a lot if good ones, though.

How modest of you

Stay on Target

We are very spoiled to have a great podcast community in X-Wing. I've listened to all of the podcasts out there and it's great how they all manage to have their own unique style which naturally fits better with different people. There are others out there that I don't think have been mentioned here such as Cloud City, Wraith Squadron, Hornet Squadron, and Evergreen Squadron.

With that being said, I don't think there is a "best podcast" as much as there is a "best podcast for you."

My personal favorite is Birmingham Barons followed very closely by Mynock Squadron.

You really can’t ignore the Krayts. Love their style or hate it they provide high quality fact based analysis. The Listener series is absolute gold, and the Solo one off should be required listening.

OCX is fun. The Mynocs are good as long as the full team are on, but I struggle when it’s just Ryan and Dee. **** of a Pilot always manages to bring a few smiles to my face too. Even if I don’t get time to listen to the whole episode I make sure to catch their Holonet news segment.

Also, great news! Tyson Sparks has returned to Back to Dials!

WHO LET HIM OUT?! GET HIM BACK IN THE KAGE

I'll also throw in a vote for Mynock.

I listened to quite a few of the US podcasts (Gold Squadron, Krayts, Scum&Villainy, Nova Squadron Radio) and enjoyed all of them, but as my schedule got tighter, cutting into listening time, I've only stuck with the Mynocks (the perfect blend of fun and knowledge for me) and the 186th Squadron Podcast (as an European I also like to keep tabs on the #tinyeuropeanmeta and the 186th guys are cool as well, although maybe a bit too British on occasion).

  1. Mynock Squadron
  2. Scum and Villainy
  3. Back to Dials
  4. Shuttle Tydirium

Ryan and Dee have a nice juxtaposition of "what feels right" and hard technical analysis which I enjoy listening to. Dallas has some good commentary when he's not off getting married. They also try to stay timely with their info and move fast on new info/stuff. I'm glad Dee was able to come back from his meltdown a while back, the game would have been worse without him. I also like in a game where most people say, "don't give someone crap for flying what's good", Ryan would go on-the-air and stand behind, "if you fly Nym-Miranda, you're dead to me." **** straight.

full time or is this just a one time guest host sort of thing?

I'm an oddity... My preferences seem to contradict each other...

  1. Carolina Krayts
  2. Shuttle Tydirium
  3. Birmingham Barons

The reasoning being that these are all high on entertainment value. These generally touch on things I can learn from. They hit different parts of the whole of X-Wing for me.

I do listen to Gold Squadron from time to time, but it's not a regular for me.

Full time.

It's a great time for them I think because Adam has developed into a pretty good co-host now, and now with Tyson back I think they're going to have a lot of chemistry between the three of them.

I haven't listened to the Shuttle in a while.... how is J-Bot responding to the 2.0 HWK news? Has he managed to find something on it to complain about? :-D

Always. Sometimes I find myself yelling back at the radio that what he's complaining about is wrong, and he misread the card...

I'm not qualified to answer this question.

I admit I never listened to the last one though... A run through of the known changes and cards is not high the list of things I want to listen to on my commute home. Apparently I'm in the minority...

OCX - Little biased here, but the livecast is a fun use of your Wednesday nights drinking and enjoying the cast chatting along with them in youtube chat boards. These guys are your neighborhood beer and pretzels players that enjoy the game while being competitive about it. Fun and inclusive are the keywords here, which is where the new Open Community X-Wing version of OCX name comes into play. The town hall episodes have been a great way to get new voices into the community, which I have had the pleasure to be part of. Oh and always remember, if you're out of beer....GET ANOTHER BEER!

Birmingham Barons - Very well structured with lots of varying strategy and tactics talk from week to week. I never feel like I'm getting the same messages over and over so a big credit to them finding new ways and angles to talk about the game so consistently. Also has sprinkles of comedy that I thoroughly enjoy, especially in the after show bloopers. PS, make a bloopers episode compilation please and thank you ?

Krayts - Between all the loud incoherant noises, non X-wing content talk, and everything being "degenerate," there are very useful snippets of conversation that occur. The math is strong here which can open your eyes to things you might've felt correct about before. If you are a slightly impressionable person, you will notice a slight change in your vocabulary overtime whether you like it or not. The best of the best from here is definitely the Listener series. Those are actually priceless and a great use of your time if you wish to improve yourself in the game, especially Listener 4.

Mynocks - Between all the loud incoherant noises...wait a minute, those are just skrees ?. Anyway, the chemistry and banter between Dee and Farmer is both very entertaining and insightful because of each other's strong opinions on the topic(s) they're conversing about. When each of these guys dig their heels in the sand, you get a lot of interesting evidence to their cases that you might not have thought of or considered. Dee is definitely the sesquipedalian of X-Wing...yeah look that one up ?. There's a reason these guys were awarded the Goldie for best X-Wing Podcast.

J-bot has a number of rants with the last one being size/shape if templates wrong, including official prize support.

He's been conservative with a lot of 2.0. He doesn't want to come out too in favor of anything as he's more inclined to complain than praise. He's happy about the new HWK, though.

I hope we get some more love letters to Asa from the battlefield of Hoth.

Dee Yun has fifteen legs? I did not know that.

Kessel Run has been a favorite of mine for a long time. they don't put episodes out regularly, so that's difficult. The most recent episode opening is amazing. The couple episodes preceding the current one were just depressing, but I'd recommend the most recent episode to anyone and hopefully its the norm with 2e coming about.

I miss "Howl" :,( We had such a good thing going and we never did get to meet... then she vanished, like the Jumpmaster's torpedo slots.

It's as full-time as we can manage it. Adam and I have fairly similar schedules and can coordinate recording on a weekly basis, but Tyson has a real job ;) so it's as much as we can but in order to meet our schedule, he probably won't be on every single week. I'm sure, though, as he comes back into the fold of X-Wing Second Edition, he will find it hard not to MAKE time for us!!!
