Corran

By dtenchi, in X-Wing

I've always pronounced Corran's name 'Cor-ran', but I've noticed that almost everyone pronounces his name as 'Corin'. If my memory serves you're supposed to enunciate the second(doubled) consonant as if it were a different consonant. E.g. 'Sup-posed', 'ser-rated', and 'ar-row'.

Do you guys pronounce it 'Corin' or 'Cor-ran'?

I pronounce it 'no Force for you lol'

(Sorry, had to.??)

[Core-rawn]

Co-ran

(Yeah right)

Corin.

Also, I think this should probably be in the Off-Topic subforum.

EDIT: Coran is probably closer to how I pronounce it.

I think you are thinking too much about this.

It's like potato vs potato. Tomato vs tomato. It doesn't matter, people know who you are talking about.

For the record, I say potato, not potato.

And Coran. Not Corin. Not Cor-ran.

Coat rain? Oh yeah he's one of my favorite EU characters, right next to Dashing Reindeer and Grand Admiral Thornbush.

(Core-in is how I pronounce it)

I know. I don't really care about it, just wondering out loud.

"Core'rain"

just kidding

I pronounce it how he personally does it. Oh wait...

Was reading I, Jedi at GenCon one year and it just so happened Michael Stackpole was there and I got the opportunity to ask him.

He said when he originally names stuff (including characters) he just throws letters together without regard for exact pronunciation. However, he had to come up with something when an audiobook got made, so...

Officially, it's "Corin".

Mare - ee - soo

But the Stackpole anecdote explains a lot, actually

San Dimas High School Football rulze!

I typically say Crutch, pronounced Core-ran.

COR-ran (one r sound). However, since the a is a schwa sound (that indeterminate, abbreviated vowel sound found so often in English), it may sound like Corin or Corun or Corn.
