Feeling better about luke now we know he's going to be expensive as a fighter, means taking him is a risk reward element instead of an autowin.

Any fully built PWT with Luke Gunner will be about 3/4 of your list. (Like I was saying from the beginning)

That means you are probably limited to the basic 25/50 point filler of a regular ship (Generic x-wing and astro combo, maybe a Talent, or a Y-wing with astro and a turret) or a named pilot in a very cheap ship, like the rebel TIE, an A-wing or a Z95. Or you might do 2 Z-s.

What I am saying, is that whatever left of the list, isn't going to carry the game. And a single falcon, however upgraded it is, even if it can always shoot, won't be powerful enough as far as we can gather now.

It cannot evade more than 2 damage, and that's if it is at range 3. Otherwise, it's 1. Granted, with all the re-rolls, and mods, it can probably evade 1 most of the time... but that also means it didn't boost. Or locked. Or focused. A single action on these larger ships is going to hurt, compared to their power in 1.0.

A really good player will probably boost into range 3, near a rock, while keeping you in arc, consistently.

In that case, he has free re-rolls on everything, and 1 force token to modify. Which is pretty great, but it is still a single 3 dice attack, for about 75% of your points. Not to mention, pulling this off, will require not insignificant skill from your opponent, especially with the dial nerf/change.

It's just not as easy to abuse as anything in 1.0

Ummmm.....full factions will not be allowed at specific events. You can't have a "Battle of.." from one time period and include stuff from other eras. So, no FO or Resistance allowed in specific battles. Maybe no Scum. Certain ships and pilots will also be banned. That's the whole point.

How soon in advance will they tell us? No idea. Wait and see, I guess.

Personally, I see myself maybe becoming more of an event player if they are plot driven.

I did hear a rumor of a Battle of Yavin challenge event which only allowed X + Y, TIE + Advanced ships.

Upgrades were unrestricted though, as were pilots.

I still don't like Gunner Luke. If he is intentionally price out of competitive use then you have removed an iconic character from tournament consideration in that slot. BUT, I really do appreciate the extensive and thoughtful response to the question. It does give me significantly more faith that the designers are not asleep at the wheel.

Regarding the B-wing: how many config cards have we seen? I think it's only the X-wing and U-wing which have both seen a 2nd edition release. I would not be surprised to see more configs come out as each ship gets its official release into 2nd ed. Also, if the HLC gets an appropriate point reduction, the B-wing becomes an interesting way to spam potential 4 dice attacks on something other than a soap bubble Scyk. Honestly, B-wing fans should just be losing their minds about playing B-wings in an environment where TLT doesn't exist. Party like it's wave three people!

Exactly this type of event! Yes. Very restrictive lists. I like this.

I'm sure someone is going to complain that they don't have x ship(s) and now can't play in said event. Little sympathy from me, though. This is part of it and if you want to do everything you will have to buy more than one faction. Don't have to do everything, though. Very fun for everyone else, though. 6 years of nothing for fluff players makes me jump for joy at the thought if these type of events.

I believe the context they were saying “Battle of Yavin” tournaments, was simply Wave 1 ships. So it would include Slave, Fang, and Falcon. Eliminating an entire faction when the designers are making the game based around now buying a single faction would be a very bad business decision IMO. The names of the tournament format I think is simply that, just a name. It’s so it sounds cool, not necessarily theme oriented.

I'll agree that Scum might be included, but you can bet FO and Resistance won't be. I think they will make events that block whole factions, even though they say you can only collect one if you want. I know it sounds counter intuitive, but I still think it will be done.

Yes Please! Make the prizes pertain to the allowed ships and it's all good. Restricting lists for Store Champs or Regionals would be bad. Offering real support to creative, alternative play experiences is about 5 years overdue.

I'd like to read into that, but I really can't all the same. I'm too used to people doing that, whether in interviews or in more casual conversation. If you offer up a layered question, they always seem to try to answer as little of it as possible, even if they have no reason to do that.

That's a fair point, but again not necessarily evasion. Especially on multi-part questions, it's easy to get sidetracked by answering a particular point, possibly going off on a tangent, and especially if you're not trying to spend the time writing Gunner-Luke-long answers to everything.

Aren't there 2 tracks for events for 2.0? I think one more themed and one more hard core. I know some want utter cut throat, but hope they do enough (and have attendance for) themed events.

Eh, hope not. I don’t have the budget for multiple factions anymore. Sold my scum collection to afford 2.0. Barely have time for tournaments now as it is. If I was essentially priced out of the 1 or 2 tournaments a month that I could actually make I’d be upset.

I still haven't seen any official "battle of Yavin" events promoted by FFG (If missed it, please post a link). They did say they would do things based on the most recently released wave, so for wave one, there won't be any FO or Resistance because they wont be released yet.

Main takeaway I got is that they don't plan on using the app to 'fix' any cards/upgrades through changing the cost. That had been one of the main assumed benefits of the app, if I judge correctly what people have been saying.

It's an emergency get-out if they absolutely need it, but if they get a cost wrong they get a cost wrong just the same as if it had been printed on the card.

I... didn't get that impression at all. They said they plan on updating point costs regularly. Approximately 3 or 4 times a year. Only rushing updates if something monstrous slips through. Specifically mentioned that point costs would be adjusted as needed. I'm really confused how that was your main takeaway...

Maybe I misunderstood.

I thought it pretty clear they were going to be changing costs but not so regularly it would be inconvenient.

Seeing how the meta shakes out over 3-4 months seems reasonable.

They did say that FAQ and errata would be a hopefully very, very rare occurrence.

@Crit Happens looks like your phantoms are designed to be more support than corner stone pieces on the board. how do you feel?
