Astrogation without a Navicomputer or Astromech

Hey guys,

I have a player who has lost his Astromech and is stuck with a ship that has no independant Navicomp but does have a hyperdrive (A Y-Wing)

Before I put the player in a stupid situation, I just want to canvas opinion here: Would the pilot be able to make a short jump, without a Navicomp?

If the plot needs him to, then yes, I would give him the chance. Edge of The Empire core book, page 247, says to add three purps to an astrogation check being made with a damaged or missing astromech or navcomp.

There are a couple of talents that would allow a character to calculate hyperspace coordinates "in his head", so to speak. Both of them are part of the Navigator specialization from Savage Spirits They are Holistic Navigation , and Intuitive Navigation . To be specific:

Holistic Navigation : When making navigation check, may spend a Destiny Point to remove one Despair or remove Threat = ranks in Perception

Intuitive Navigation : When making Astrogation or Knowledge Outer Rim check, add Force Dice up to Force Rating to check. May spend Force Points to add Success or Advantage
