So, the idea is to use the Upsilon. I also like the Silencer. Unfortunately, I didn't find an Upsilon build that allowed me to use Kylo as the Silencer pilot, which is unfortunate. Countdown is in simply because he's the best you can get for 20 points. :)

  • If you've got Kylo on the field, ships which can reliably inflict criticals are a good call.
  • Kylo is a good pilot for the upsilon because it's surprising how much he can make that thing dance.
  • The Kylo build is nice. Being able to hard turn and barrel roll, then clear both stress with a single green, with Kallus and FCS giving you mods, you've got a decent chance of getting enough shots with that 4-dice big gun to justify your cost.
  • Blackout's ability is nice - might I suggest supporting it by either giving him Collision Detector, & Wired or Trick Shot. Saves you a couple of points, which lets you swap Pure Sabbac for Omega Ace with Advanced Optics. That gives you someone who can reliably trigger I'll Show You The Dark Side.

If you want an Upsilon/Silencer, I'd suggest dropping the third ship.....

  • 2 Point Initiative Bid
  • Kylo Ren - First Order Vanguard, Push The Limit, Advanced Sensors, Threat Tracker, Autothrusters
  • Major Stridan - Kylo Ren's Shuttle, Sensor Jammer, Systems Officer, Rebel Captive, Advanced Optics, Pattern Analyser, Engine Upgrade

Kylo is equipped to dance like a loon, whilst Stridan provides him with borderline ludicrous action economy and flings stress at enemy ships.

Very nice ideas, thanks a lot! Any advice on how to fly it?

Not really  Never really got into the ace-plus-big-ship thing with much practice.

Short version - Kylo can win pretty much any one-on-one dogfight, but can't solo a whole squad. You want your opponents concentrating on Stridan, where a combination of stress and sensor jammer does a sort of analogue to the whole Fenn/Ghost thing. Plus, blocking people is a relatively safe place for the Upsilon to be.

Kylo can dance like an imbecile. Green with the upsilon triggers systems officer, which lets him target lock for free (even if stressed). Since he should get a reroll on attacks from First Order Vanguard, he doesn't need the target lock to attack with, letting him use it with threat tracker to boost or barrel roll to line up on higher PS pilots, or to boost or barrel roll after attacking to disengage from a joust.

Theoretically, you don't even need advanced sensors, since you could co-ordinate an action, push the limit, then perform a green move and take your standard action. But Advanced Sensors is good insurance for when the Upsilon gets shot down.

did you ever consider running the generic silencer and putting more points in the third ship?

the PS 4 guy with FCS, advanced optics, autothrusters is 32 points. It's fast and maneuverable. A guy I play with runs 2 of them with VI quickdraw and it's awful to go against.

I did consider it, yes. I only have one Silencer, though, and I want to include the Upsilon. But it's a least I'm likely to revisit in 2.0.

Two ships that like locks with system officer. Stridan can coordinate when needed like before kylo does a red maneuver.

I would second a switch for Blackout from FCS to CollDet and VI to Wired. Then give him the title! Basically a full TL. CollDet is ridiculously good on him given his love of debris - he can move and reposition over them as much as he wants, lining up those obstructed shots, grabbing stress for mods, and rolling hella evades.

Kylo seems fine - consistent and not unmaneuverable - not my choice, but probably workable.

I don't really get how your build would look. And don't I lose the action as risk damage by rolling over debris?

Here's my take on this list, while I try to keep it's flavor

I felt like kylo needed to be a bit of an anvil for his wingmen to hammer aganist, so I beefed him up so he can get those reliable crits, and keep some passive mods.

I switched blackout for the test pilot because I don't think his ability and 1 extra PS is really going to be worth the two points, so now we have a PS 8 arc Dodger that you can't really ignore, and night beast is just a discount omega leader
