I like Old Teroch better. You'll get more mileage out of it probably. It'll help you shut down some Deadeye Harpooners and annoy anyone trying to bank focuses with Rey. Plus, if you throw VI on it, you'll have two strong PS9 ships.

Teroch is better as he can help Fenn hit like the beast he is. Also, Teroch helps against list that could give you problems like Defenders,Asajj,etc. with their token stacks. Not only that, but block Quickdraw or Poe with adv optics and drop that focus as well.

Im currently trying Kad Solus since I never ran him before and figure I will try him out before 2.0. Had predator on him and "meh". Then I put intensity on him and its really nice. He can boost into range 1, get his focus with intensity, then kturn, get two focuses, pay off intensity with one, then rinse and repeat.

Old Teroch is generally better (it's why he costs more!) but as a partner for Fenn Rau, he's much, much better. Both of them want to be at range 1 in people's faces and stripping away green tokens before Fenn fires is painful.

Plus, as noted, with Veteran Instincts you get two PS9 pilots. At range 1 in a furball, being able to chop and change movement order might let you avoid a fatal block.
