I'm not gonna lie, other than KulBB-8, I've always thought that FAA is just too good on an X-Wing to pass up. Sure, regen is useful, but so is being able to turn around/adapt position way easier. That being said, I could see R2-D2 work on a Lone Wolf Luke, as he would still have decent mods even after pulling a red.

He's just there to be an annoying tank. If players who hate regen try to take him off the board, I can take advantage of Wedge staying on the board and Kul's action-economy.

Personally, I kinda think 4-X is the way to go for all X-Wing lists. This squad has some really high-cost Elite upgrades, as well as the Shield Upgrades, which don't really offer much more than Integrated Astromech, despite costing vastly more. Considering that Cavern Angel Zealot is 21 points with a 1-point droid and Crack Shot, 22 with Intimidation, I'd much rather start with, say, two of these, and take two higher aces.

Cavern Angel Zealot (Intimidation, FAA, RR, SSF, IA) 22

Cavern Angel Zealot (Intimidation, FAA, RR, SSF, IA) 22

Wedge Antilles or Wes Janson (VI, FAA, RR, SSF, IA) 28

Kulbee Speerado (PTL, BB-8, RR, SSF, IA) 28

Intimidation looks really cool on a CAZ. PS 1 means they'll be great blockers, and will set up some strong shots for their partners. Meanwhile, it protects a squishy ship by denying an enemy shots on it. Kulbee is probably primed to get into a great position with double-mods to take advantage. Wedge is also potent, and stacking reduced agility goes a long way, perhaps even better than adding another type of dice mods to him. Wes, likewise, always works great in a swarm-ish list.

It would require having four X-Wings, and after I get my copy of Saw’s, I’ll only have three. Plus, the EPTs combines with the native pilot skills are extremely nice.

IA makes sense on Kulbee because of point cost, but the list has room to spare so why not have a shield and keep BB-8 all game.

If I had four, I’d go that route, but I’m not seeing the benefit of getting two Saw’s expansions this close to 2.0 when I’m going to get yet another X-Wing with the starter box.

That's a pretty good reason not to run four.

I still kinda think a 4-ship list is the way to go. 4X, or 3X + Stress Ezra or such. That's just me, though.

Could also go with a Wookie, maybe. VI Wedge would leave room for a Tactician+Magva combo on the Wookie instead of the commandos.

Looks really solid to me.

I’m thinking VI to give the Wookie good crew and Wedge a change to run away or close in with FAA.

I played my 4-Ship list today against a QuickDraw build and I have to say, I’m incredibly impressed with the new X-Wing stuff! It was my first game trying out the S-Foils. Man, it’s amazing how much it changes the game for those guys.

Just one problem: I apparently don’t know how to block. It’s never been something I’ve tried to do, except for way back when I first started playing and ran 3 B’s with Biggs. I couldn’t get a single block off the whole game. So while I think over time, the Intimidating X-Wings can be strong, I’m not sure I’ll be ready to field them by my FLGS’s tournament the weekend after the new expansion launch.

Small base blocking can be challenging...it's a gimmick I, personally, wouldn't be centered on

I’m heavily considering the initial 3-X build for that tournament just for the heck of it. I’ve had a blast testing Kullbee. I’m hoping to get a real game in proxying it before the tourney.
