Vader ISD and Jerjerrod Victory

By Fredrikhuhtanen, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hello, I have been out of Armada for a long time, I finally decided to get back into it, so I sat down and wrote up a few lists and wanted to see what you guys thought about it. I am very uncertain about objective picking, so I would love suggestions.

Name: Imperial March
Faction: Empire
Leader: Darth Vader

Assault: Most Wanted
Defense: Fire Lanes
Navigaton: Solar Corona

Arquitens Light Cruiser (54)
-Darth Vader (36)
-Enhanced Armaments (10)
=100

Arquitens Light Cruiser (54)
-Enhanced Armaments (10)
=64

ISD II (120)
-Gunnery Team (7)
-Expanded Hangar Bays (5)
-Electronic Countermeasures (7)
-Spinal Armaments (9)
=148

Squadrons (85)
-Major Rhymer (16)
-Marek Steele (21)
-3 Tie Defenders (48)

Total: 397

The Point is of course to blast away the enemy with an array of mostly red dice thanks to Vader. The ISD II also gets 5 squadron capacity, so as long as a squadron command is given, I can move the entire Rhymerball, which can either take out squadrons or bomb ships.

Name: Jerjerrod's Dream
Faction: Empire
Leader: Moff Jerjerrod

Assault: Most Wanted
Defense: Fleet Ambush
Navigation: Minefields or Solar Corona

Arquitens Light Cruiser (54)
-Moff Jerjerrod (23)
-Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
=84

Arquitens Light Cruiser (54)
-Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
=61

Victory II (85)
-Gunnery Team (7)
-Disposable Capacitors (3)
-Spinal Armaments (9)
=104

Victory II (85)
-Gunnery Team (7)
-Disposable Capacitors (3)
-Spinal Armaments (9)
=104

Squadrons (44)
-2 VT-49 Decimators

Total: 399

The Idea here is also very simple, Jerrerrod gives all the ships excellent maneuverability, meaning they can mostly spam engineering and concentrate firepower. Lots of dice, lots of damage. For squadrons I just have a couple of VT-49s to hoplefully tie up the enemies for a while.

List 1:
Enhanced Armament is expensive. Consider Slaved Turrets or QBTs to save points. I don't think you need Rhymer as TIE-Ds are fast enough to reach most places. Drop EX Hangar and upgrade Rhymer to IG88 or Bossk or a Decimator. Any points left over think about RBDs on the ship Vader is on as a little insurance.

List 2:
Needa and Brunson on the Arquitens to give them the use of (or effect of) an evade while they use their TRCs freely. Swap out Spinals for QBTs on the victories to get the points. I like Decimators but a VSD can spare a squadron command on turn 2 so maybe 3 TIE-F or 2 TIE-I and a Decimator would be better. Bossk is only 1 point more than a standard Decimator and he has a brace and isn't heavy. I always take him before fitting any more Decimators into a list.

Thanks a lot!

I am a big fan of Enhanced Armaments in any Vader build, but QBTs is a nice option. You are probobly right about not needing Rhymer really.
I also thought of quite different version of list 1 consisting of a Cymoon 1 refit with intensify Firepower and Gunnery teams, 3 Arquitens with enhanced armaments (Or perhaps QBTs), Bossk and a VT-49, does it sound like a decent idea?

I agree with all the advice for list two and have made the adjustments, ran the list with the adjustments recently and it worked really well, thanks.

List 1 would like more activations. Vader is more cost-effective the more ships you have, and an important principle for Arquitens survival is “don’t let MC30s/Torpedo Hammerheads/other stuff get close to you,” which can’t really be done with 3 ships total and no significant bid. Rhymer isn’t too happy here, as you’re either engaged without Intel, dead, or you’ve killed their minimal screen and can go speed 5. Swapping Defenders for cheaper squads is probably the way to go, but you might be able to just squeeze in a Gozanti and Strategic Adviser to get you up to 5 activations and make Most Wanted better.

As for the second fleet: I like it. The VSDs would like dice control, Leading Shots being an option. I’m confused about the Decimators. Are they intended to be a screen? They’re heavy, so they won’t stop bomber lists from delivering their payloads, and they aren’t fast enough to avoid engagement so as to attack ships. Fleet Ambush is not your friend in almost any situation, because certain builds with first player will get a whole lot more benefit out of it than you will. Examples include bomber or Demolisher strikes before you’ve even moved a ship, or being forced to move right into a Star Destroyer’s front arc. Planetary Ion Cannon, Contested Outpost or Fire Lanes are all better choices here. Even Hyperspace Assault could be fun. Good luck, hope this helps!

Yeah list one needs a lot more work, as I wrote earlier, I think I might switch it around to have something like a Cymoon with intensify firepower and gunnery teams, and 3 arquitens with enhanced armaments to get the extra activation going. Squadrons would likely be Bossk and a VT-49 (I am open to suggestions for squadrons however).

For the second list, I should at least make it Bossk and a Decimator to make sure they both don't have heavy. Thank you for the objective advice.

Alright, I changed some stuff around in the first list, quite drastically, does this look solid?:

ISD Cymoon (112)
-Darth Vader (36)
-Strategic Adviser (4)
-Gunnery Team (7)
-XI7 Turbolasers (6)
=165

ISD Cymoon (112)
-Intel Officer (7)
-Gunnery Team (7)
-XI7 Turbolasers (6)
=132

Raider II (48)
-Disposable Capacitors (3)
-Heavy Ion Emplacements (9)

Squadrons (40)
Bossk (23)
Cienna Ree (17)

Total: 397

Looks good. Dual Vader Cymoons are a solid fleet atm. A single Intel Officer generally doesn’t do as much (still nice,) because the other Cymoon is equally damaging, and therefore where they will spend tokens. XI7s and HIE clash in the same fleet, as XI7 shuts down redirects, but HIE makes them less useful to begin with. Redirecting one shield doesn’t matter as much when you only have one or two left on that hull zone. Spinal Armament is good if you drop Bossk down to Valen; if not, Quad Battery Turrets frees up an extra two points as a bonus. Another option is keeping the XI7s and dropping the Raider for 2 Gozantis, a better fighter screen (6 TIEs being a classic) and a decent bid/a turbolaser.
