2.0 test games board. Post how are they going mates!

We don't have all the goods on the new crack, but I know we've all been trying to mock up games to see how the new 2.0 hotness will work out. Yeah, costs are yet not known --save getting some info gleaned from snippets and dropped statements here and there-- but what do you guys think so far of the coming power ships of the early 2.0 meta? Educated guesses?

OK, I'll be first. Luke will be the bomb of the 2.0 world. In an X-Wing he's wicked good. On a turret he gives you perfect attack duty cycle and it'll be the only ship in the game with that ability. Cost be damned.

We're calling it out first, it'll be penned as: Luke-Wing!!

Luke [gunner] will be a crutch for new players, not a meta-defining force.

A bit early for pearl-clutching, don't ya think?

Luke PILOT is an absolute beast.

Luke GUNNER is a crutch.

Valen Rudor is amazing 1v1, even in a tie fighter. Evade, get shot at, focus, shoot back, every turn. In a tie Defender he is going to be a BEAST. (Go fast for evade, Focus, boost for shot, target lock)

Base I1 Striker swarm + Sloane & Vader carrier is really fun to fly and super scary for my opponents. You absolutely must kill the Sloane shuttle asap, but good luck when the Strikers have free reign swarming around/in front of the shuttle while it's out of range to be attacked at least the 1st round. STRIKERS ARE SUPER FUN!

If Luke and X-Wings are OP and are top meta forever I think I would be ok with that.

Bit I HAVE played in an OT only tournament against Luke's wedge Biggs, running only unguided bombers myself

And...yeah even with 1.0 r2d2, Luke isn't actually THAT hard to kill

Except 1e luke has to deal with 1e token stacking and doesn't have Force or super-deadeye or functional torpedoes or s foils or... etc etc etc.

HWK's look like they will be pretty wicked.

In the case I brought up, he had to deal with Unguided Rocket bombers

Again, 1e Luke, who presumably wasn't packing fully-modified Proton Torpedoes, S-foils, Force points and wasn't being escorted by a better-than-pre-nerf Biggs and a Wedge who is like as not also firing modified 4-dice attacks.

He was packing predator (full mods v scimitars) and 1.0 r2-d2 while running along a predator FFA (aka mr. no longer appearing in this game) wedge AND a vi wes, which directly counters unguided

Still got steamrolled.

2.0 Predator got nerfed in just about every way and we already know what kind of squad he and wedge can go in

Luke will be strong, but we cannot forget that an X-wing is still just an X-wing. It got some REALLY appreciable quality of life buffs, but he will still drop like a rock when he gets shot. If he ends up being incredible, it will be as a solid leader to a squad of X-wings (sense + X-wing servos = amazing higher I counter) and not because he is a particularly monstrous pilot.

Personally would be far more concerned if I saw E-wings on the other side of the table. Alpha game is STRONG

Autothrusters on Wedge? Hummmm?!?

I admit, haven’t attempted to run E-Wings yet or seen them across the mat; love them in 1.0 for some unknown reason, squads of three are fun, albeit not great now. Looks like they got a huge buff; but might be as costly as Defenders and two will be a max with maybe an A-Wing on the wing; I’m guessing. ?

I’ve played some 2.0 on flycasual and absolutely love it! The AI is a little dumb, so take this with a grain of salt, but having played several matches with each team and against each team, Luke was the hardest to kill except Boba, and that’s largely because the game hasn’t yet corrected the Reinforce action for 2nd edition.

No matter how many times Luke gets shot per round, he almost ALWAYS evades at least one or two damage. And in addition, closing the s-foils to zip away and regen is SO EASY now, especially because R2 now works at speed 3- 4.

On the other hand, I’ve never seen Wedge survive a match.

To be fair, this was the case in early first edition, as well. Wedge's ability draws far too much hate for him to survive all but the most lopsided games. His job is to set the game up for Luke to finish, not win it himself.

Edit: I’m probably most excited about 2.0 because thematic lists will often actually work instead of being laughed off the table. I’m flying nothing but thematic jank till 2.0 comes out

Just thinking: Wedge with R2 Astro will combo beautifully with Saw pilot. Get in and torps away. Lose shields, take a damage. GTFO to regen shields and then come back in taking free rerolls for 5 more hp.

This is a great point, having access to Saw and R2 makes a nice Alpha. T-65s will be something to deal with in 2.0, the game's namesake will certainly make a wave in the first wave. Thanks for the idea mate, I'm gonna give it a go.

Supernatural Reflexes t65 Luke + Outrider Dash/Leebo will be early Meta toppers.

HWK290 and Firespray are the most improved together with the T65.

Triple IG-88 (Tribots) are going to be deadly. That's more of a wish though. ;)

I agree on paper these two ships are top of the heap, and when you have dash and luke abilities, theyre great. Does anyone now if Luke crew can go on Dash?

If so, and Luke in the 65 is great, Leebo will trump Dash a bit as he's cheaper too we'll wager (yay Europe) ..and, well, because 360 turret is the best game piece, thanks Luke. Period.

Indication from UKGE is that the Outrider does have a gunner slot but I think I'd rather have Luke in his T65.

If you can fit both! It's looking like Luke will be around 75 points for a good loadout, and you'll be hard pressed to kit Dash the way you want for under 130...

You can't have two Lukes.

Yes, Luke gunner goes on Dash, but you, as noted, can't have both pilot and Gunner, and the pilot is WAY better. Force is Just That Good.
