Now this is Podracing!

God help us

Edit: all jokes aside, sebulba seems great with remote stockpile and Anakin will be a fantastic mill character. Phantom menace is nothing more than a meme to me so this is great

The mechanics and cards spoiled are actually pretty cool. Characters and podracing though? Ugh...

Heh. We'll see, but I suspect I'll be building 2 podracing decks to battle it out. Not sure if they'll do well, but I'll make them work against each other at least.

I can't say I'm particularly excited by the podracing spoilers, but I'll give it a go. I didn't really ever explore playing vehicles either so lots of untapped areas to explore still. I WILL say...I thought that podracing plot would have been an alt-win condition, not just produce money. Getting resources is great, but thought it would have been "when you have tapped 10 podracers, you win" or something like that. Or a droid one that is like "Overwhelming Superiority" and you win if you have 8 or more Droid die in the pool. Neither is great (since made that stuff up in a few minutes), but really drives how you would approach/build a deck. I don't know - would have been a different design choice. Who knows - maybe someday. :) Still great to see more spoilers. Now to get that official SC info that is already leaking from stores. :)

Why does this card look like it's a snapshot from a Star Wars sitcom?

Four misfits, an angry crimelord, and a whole lot of firepower!

Tuesdays at 8pm

Too bad K2-SO isn’t labeled as a Droid subtype. That new Anakin with him would be the start of something.

You must have Jedi reflexes if you race pods.

I think Anakin will become strong in mill and vehicles (maybe replacing Ezra?)

I don't think pod racing will be competitive especially since we only have one per affiliation (unless we get a few neutral ones)

I don't understand how Anakin fits with the theme of looking at characters later in their lives.

I always think of the end of Beetlejuice whenever I look at this card...

Theres bound to be more than just the 2 podracers. For one there were atleast a couple dozen in that scene to pick from and since the Plot is plural it makes even less sense to only have one.

Anakin and Sebulba might be the only characters for it but theres probably 2-3 other podracer supports, most likely generic named i.e. model numbers rather than "This guy's pod"

What im confused about is the plot says "set each copy of this plot aside" ... wat? uh, but you can only have 1 plot?

I noticed that too. Unless it means yours and your opponent's. You win the race ...so you get the resources and theirs goes away.

Based on the way the article talked this is how it works. So you could actually get into a pod race in a game of destiny.

So this is the pod racing set? Seriously? They already jumped the shark with this game.......

Managing to jump the shark AND sink their own Destiny ship all in one calendar year, seems about right for FFG.

Other deckbuilding games where the deck sets up its own win condition completely separate from the core rules generally get complained about, as they're either terrible NPE race conditions or they require tailoring your deck against them in order to even be playing the game. They're also rarely very interactive for the opponent, which we've seen is a bad thing in Destiny when SoR ran away with the action cheating.

Hey look... You have to admit...they've improved the game ... And the new designer stated they are trying to get away from action cheating. They want to improve the game... Their intention isn't to sell crap to us. If your point of view is that the game is crap..all you will see is crap. But if you look a little deeper.. you might find things you like. Give it a chance....

I think the game is in a great place, actually. And everything we’ve seen from the next set looks great. (Even the podracing cards are well designed)

Its that we barely have any news, the release schedule is basically non-existent and organized play is weak at best.

I got back from Regionals and a GQ at Adepticon to find my entire playgroup had dissolved and the other store in the area now has zero attendance as well.

True, totally get that. Probably a bit early to go 'alt win conditions' anyway. I just was thinking in MTG sometimes it can be interesting to have some alt conditions to change things up a bit. Still pretty darn early in SWD for that though. I guess I just meant I thought that was where it was heading and it turned out to just be resources. 'Just' is likely an understatement though, since those are pretty critical to the game and getting a flood of them in the game could really change the whole game...especially the way it is worded on the card saying get rid of EACH copy of this plot and gain 4...does that mean we can have more than 1 plot? Or a way to make copies of plots? Craziness.

Yeah, I'm all on the 'FFG needs to improve communication' front. :) I wish I had been able to make it to Adepticon (it was the one I could have actually have traveled to, but scheduling conflict) and only was able to make it to a Regionals in Wisconsin. Just not enough opportunities in the region...and let's not even start to talk about how hard it is for those internationally to do Regionals/GQs! From what long-term FFG players have said, FFG is improving...just not at the pace I think newbies like myself would like. Communication is very high on the list of things to improve though. Game design is very solid, from my perspective. Just need more on other fronts.

Oh Destiny, you WERE fun.

I agree with you 100% that communication and release dates from FFG n eeds improvement.

Is that a young Benedict Cumberbatch? ?

I'm excited for this. TPM holds such a special place in my heart.

I like these little thematic groupings of cards, be it the Gungan, Droid or Pod Racing, while these may not make it into "serious" decks they do seem like you could have a ton of fun with them.

Yeah, these might be good in draft, if you can but the elements together.
