Stupid Thane Tricks

By MasterShake2, in X-Wing

So, Thane Kyrell is an interesting pilot. Spending a non blank attack die to flip a card of your choice seems pretty solid given the new damage deck.

Obviously his big limitation is that he has a dead pilot ability until you start putting damage cards on enemies, but what fun things could you do once they start getting damage cards?

-Reflipping direct hits. This seems pretty dumb although there are less direct hits than before, this is automatic damage as long as you roll any paint.

-Flipping a hull breach. Hull breaches apply right away now, so you could flip it and have it be in effect for any damage from Thanes attack, not to mention the rest of the phase. Same for Fuel leak if you have a crit in your attack.

-You could constantly reflip the card that gives ion tokens and basically auto-walk someone off the table

-Reflip blinded pilots to prevent non-force users from modding dice

-reflip the card that gives 2 stress constantly because actions are for chumps

Like a lot of things in 2.0, putting it on the table will be required for proper perspective, but this pilot has a lot of potential to be super obnoxious late game and at I5 a lot of these shenanigans can be done really early in the combat phase.

I would always go for structural damage if I can. I just love stealing green dice.

That is amusing because you'd flip the card before they roll defense, do it would take effect right away.

His ability would be fantastic on the ARC which doesn't hit diddly through green dice anyway

The one weakness with flipping structural damage is that it's never repaired (unless you have an R5). It would be so awesome if the card read "Reduce your agility by one. Then repair this card" because then Thane could get an Interceptor down to 0 agility.

Alas, the card is only in effect when face up. The nice bit is that it reduces dice rolled instead of agility so it still works against a R3 decimator, VCX, etc.

That is all..... IN-THANE!!!!!!
