A new Lando Millenium Falcon squadron card

By Plessiez, in Star Wars: Armada

Watching Solo reminded me that we’re missing the opportunity to have a squadron card for Lando piloting the Falcon. After all, when we finally get that SSD we’ll be needing him to recreate the Battle of Endor as Han will be busy playing Legion.

So what would your card for a Lando piloted Falcon be? Personally, based on his role in RotJ I’d be giving him Relay 2 and Bomber instead of the current traits.

Before @Drasnighta comes along.... lets clear the air about the Falcon not being marked as unique in Armada, only Han is....

So how do you stop Lando piloting a Falcon in the same fleet as Han is piloting a falcon? .......dont forget the size of the squadron card as well!

Nothing ever stopped you from having Chewbacca and Han both flying Falcons at the same time in X-Wing, other than it not being a particularly great list.

Were they both flying Milennium Falcons, or was one a mere YT1300 as it had no title?

As Drasnighta said... the 2nd YT1300 doesnt have the Falcon title... which is a unique in Xwing...

How ever in Armada the unique identifier (the Dot) is against the pilot not the sqn type...

Like that ever happens ? . I mean, if they really wanted to stop people from flying Lando and Han on two separate falcons, they could give Lando some text that “Lando cannot be part of a fleet that contains Han” or something like that.

True, but there is no rule that says that a squad type cannot be unique, even though one does not yet exist. So the could just release an faq that makes the falcon squad type unique on Han and then do the same for Lando.

Lando went back to Correlia and won another one by cheating playing sabbac fairly...

This is my point, and has always been my point.

It cannot just “happen”.

There needs to be a serious Rules Amendment, that would be a precedent amendment affecting many squadrons... it’s possible, but when you REQUIRE an errata to work, then stuff becomes FAR less likely.

Well after Lando lost the Millennium Falcon he got a new ship and named it the Aluminium Falcon.

The other thought is that if the new Falcon has the unique dot, you would not be able to use Han/Falcon even though that one is not unique as the other Falcon is and you can only have one, right?

So many possibilities

Lando and L3 ( with escape pod )

Young Han and relatively mid age Chewie

Normal age Han and Chewie ( Current card )

Lando and Nien Nunb

Old age Han and Chewie ( with different radar )

Chewie and Rey

It is not hard to print new cards,

Only have one with a unique dot.

one would not.

Cracken was also on the Falcon at Endor...

Right but it would be unique Keyword Falcon, so you can not have any other falcons in your force. So the one that is unique keyword Han is still not allowed even though it is not unique keyword Falcon as it is still a Falcon or am I missing something?

This did not go the way I thought it would.

Sorry, you stepped into an old rules quandary that has been brewing since wave 2. Why didn't they make the Millennium Falcon unique as well as Han Solo?

On the up side, most everyone is in favor of a Lando Millennium Falcon, FFG just dropped the ball when they wrote the Han Solo card, forcing an errata if they choose to include the Lando version.

Lazy game design strikes again! ;)

Yeah sorry about that... didnt intend for a total derailment from your OP....

BUT it can be done (fairly) easily by adding a keyword THE MILLENNIUM FALCON on to Lando's card and have it read: only one squadron with the name Falcon can be included in a fleet.

then you can errata Han squadron card to have this keyword plus be able to do Chewie as well... (this is what I was kinda hinting at when I said about card space)

Hey look, Lando's Falcon is now officially a thing... for X-Wing... >.<

Dras is right

A card’s name is unique if there is a bullet (•) to the left of
the name.
• A fleet cannot contain more than one card with the
same unique name
, even if those cards are of different
types.

So it is legal to have 3k Darth Vader cards as long as only one Darth Vader name is an unique name and it is if it has the dot. Without the dot it is just a name, no matter if it is the same name.

Should be. He commands the Imperial fleet, then says he'll take care of it himself. Hops in his TIE Advanced and boards an enemy ship. Havoc ensues and an upgrade card is lost. Continues granting rerolls until his boarding card is discarded. Sounds good to me.

Possible card Art ??

So right now, the Millennium Falcon is really titled:

•Han Solo

Millennium Falcon

And therein lies the problem, right? So, how about using this title for Lando:

•Han Solo

Millennium Falcon (but with Lando, not Han)

Easy.

Lando

Millenium Falcon

[Blah ability blah]

[May not field if another Millennium Falcon is in your fleet]

Don’t get me wrong, it works...

... but it’s a product of the most base nasty *** brute rules design... It’s just something avoided in design - you don’t want to set precedence outside of your established precedent rules designed FOR a purpose.

Do it once and you essentially invalidate your original rule as people will EXPECT you to keep doing it for all such interactions - unless you are open and honest about your design process in a public forum for it to be understood colloquially- which FFG has 0 groundwork laid down for.

“Do it for Lando....... Then Chewy.... Then Rey.... (etc) ... “

... and as “Millennium Falcon” is not a name or squad type, as the rules, it’s hard to be 100% on what’s being referenced when you state it can’t be repeated...

(and this does bug me too - Kyle in the Crow, Leebo in the Outrider.... there’s quite a few others that are equally ignored for it...)
