Best impulse buy EVER.

By DAEvo, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Have you ever needed a bit of retail therapy? I was having a rough day and just wanted to get out, so I headed to the FLGS and decided the box art for Invasion was too good to pass up. I assumed the cards would be at least as cool and took it home.

I have to say this was the best purchase I've made in ages. I mostly play games with my girlfriend and this has been the BEST two player game we've purchased.

My assumption was correct -- the art is fantastic, the mechanics fun and evocative, and the "feel" of the game is just right.

We are now both Invasion converts. I'm looking forward to interacting here with the community. Now to start deck building...

Welcome. I, too, love that awesome feeling when an impulse purchase turns out to be a GREAT purchase. W:I is an excellent game with much more depth than you'd realize at first. Enjoy!

Welcome! :) Great choice.

I've started for a joke and now I'm coordinating the italian organized play with a growin' community. I think it's one of the most evocative/funny game ever created, possibily better than other bigger ones.

:)

Thanks for the welcoming words.

The problem is that I love the game so much after just a few plays... we haven't even broke out the Orcs or Dwarf factions yet! Our next big move is to buy all of the Battle Packs and expansions as soon as the March releases are out. Does everyone recommend buying an additional Core Set, too?

I'm a diehard, really, really, REALLY love it Fan of the game so take my suggestions with a grain of salt but I would absolutely recommend buying 2 more sets so that you can have 3 (the max allowed for a single deck) each of important cards to use. :)

Gotcha three core sets. What about the Battle Packs? Do those require doubles or triples? Fortunately my partner is as hooked as I am she is the one hounding me to start ordering multiple sets!

OK, off to the rules discussion. I am sure all of the problems we have are already there and answered.

Thanks again!

ETA: Somewhat off topic -- is the CoC card game as enjoyable?

Okay, the thing is that the Battlepacks are going to be changing with the arrival of the next Cycle of cards (sometime mid-to-late summer) so that you'll pay $15 per pack BUT you'll get 3 copies of every card in that Battlepack, thus allowing you to just buy a single Battlepack (BP).

However, the current set-up with these BPs in this Corruption Cycle is that out of the 30 total cards in your BP, some only come as a single card in that BP, necessitating the need to purchase 3 BPs if you want to be able to use 3 of any important card in your deck.

I've heard cool things about Call of Cthulu too and AGOT...each has its strengths, apparently, and all are fairly different. I'm avoiding the other two games, despite being interested in them, simply because they existed as CCGs previous to being turned into LCGs and both have extremely experienced player pools with those games. Competitive play would be extremely difficult to jump into in light of that as I'd be at a huge disadvantage for a long time.

So I've just decided to focus on W:I (and I'm not even sure I'll do that much competitively with it, either).

Thanks for the info, Wytefang. Maybe we can wait until summer to make the purchases it seems the Battle Packs are ~$10.00 at the FLGS, so it would cost us twice as much to get the three copies of the cards if they even had multiple sets.

Also, played with the Orcs and Dwarves for the first time over the weekend. I am pleasantly surprised at how different each faction plays. Good times.

On a sad note, I have lost EVERY game to my girlfriend.
