Luuke pilot confirmed!

By gadwag, in X-Wing

How has FFG produced new versions of pilots for X-Wing 2.0? The answer is simple: clones. None of the reprinted pilots are really our old friends from 1.0 - instead, they were all birthed from cloning canisters in a secret facility beneath FFG HQ.

All hail our new cloned pilots! Luuke and Weedge shall rule the meta, and watch out for Maaarek Stele!

(Serious question though: how do we know that the Maarek of TIE Fighter fame wasn't the clone of another pilot called Marek? Ask yourself that).

...or a clone of another pilot called Jeremy, for that matter. Just because some clones have double-vowel versions of their originals' names doesn't mean all of them have to. Otherwise, that would have gotten REALLY confusing during the Clone War. "Jaango! Stop arguing with Jaango and go help Jaango!"

Ah, my favourite pilot, Deathfiire

I don't see Dark Curse or Backstabber... Sad, so sad...

I'll be interested when they introduce Bigger Luke. Clones are less novel.

Haha I forgot about Bigger Luke. We need thematic pilot and gunner cards for Bigger Luke.

He can get two force tokens when he's defending and can move the turret arc twice in the engagement phase.

Is it doubling any vowel in general?

The impression I got from the Thrawn trilogy was that all you needed to make a clone is an extra "u"...

The Zahn version of the Clone Wars was very different from the eventual on screen CW. The timeline was off, the cloning method was different, etc. it’s amazing how Leland Chee tried to hammer the EU into the prequels. That was when I knew any sequels to the OT would ignore any books, comics, etc, just like the 90s EU ignored all the 70s-80s save for WEG material that survived into the second edition of the SWRPG.

the worst thing about the Zahn trilogy was Joruus looking like a buff Obi-wan instead of being unique like Thrawn or many other characters. The cloned darkside Jedi character could have been anything other than an old white male hermit. Too bad we can’t retcon Pong Krell into that character. (Puong Krell?)

I just learned this is a thing.

I want to believe that wiki is the work of hundreds of people fiercely devoted to the Bigger Luke theory.

Now I want a retcon with "Kruell"...

Lol at the Bigger Luke hypothesis citing ObiWan as knowing about the size difference. "You've taken your first steps into a larger world" therefore he's a Bigger Luke

How about bigger Luuke?

Luukee?

Don't confuse Bigger Luke and Luuke, two different people.

I'm concerned that as the popularity of Star Wars grew during the late 70s and early 80s, that something nefarious happened to Bigger Luke.

There are clear scenes and multiple occurances of Bigger Luke in both ANH and ESB, but by ROTJ we really don't see Bigger Luke. Wanting to avoid a scandal that would plunge the franchise in a downward spiral (eg lip sync Milli Vanilli scandal) there are concerns that Bigger Luke wasn't just pushed out of the films, but literally pushed out, like a window. Some even theorize they targeted the regular Luke first, but failed, and that is why he had scars during ESB, and wrote in the wampa scene on Hoth
