Some of you are aware that I have been working on my own Stargate setting based during the 1960's. I have been quietly working away at the rules are lore but have hit a road black, thus I am coming to you you all.

I have found a few brave souls to take the 1 billion light year step into the unknown, to explore the countless world of Stargate 1963 and solve its many mysteries. From their experiences and decisions, I will not only write the first few introductory adventures to the setting, but finalise the statistics of the may creatures and technologies you will meet along the way, as well as nail down the lore and tone of the setting.

There have been lots of movement since I posted my ' Preview ' months back on the main board. Until I finalise the rules via play testing I will keep them private. Do not worry, I will get it out to the players, on a need to know basis for lots of surprises and big reveals!

The game is now moving towards live play. I will be planning on building a Beta document as play-testing moves forward.

Neat. I'll be reading over it as I have time, but a quick question. Are you using an inspiration from the Stargate d20 system released in the early 2000s?

Nope. Doing it off the cuff. The setting is pretty much being sourced from the Genesis rulebook, setting is familiar yet totally different from Cannon Stargate.

4. A "cannon" is a gun. You want "canon" as the term for official or scripture. (Sorry, don't mean to be snarky. That's just one word a lot of folks get confused. )

This is really cool. My group was just talking about running a few 'episodes' of a Stargate game to give ourselves a break from our regular scheduled programming.

Sadly, I probably won't have time for the Discord Games, but I'll gladly jump in to chat with the community - and as soon as you're willing to share some rules, gladly GM a few games with my peeps to work out some kinks.

Discord is a chat service (like Skype) focused more to video gamers, essentially you create servers that people can join and text or voice chat. Good interface. Lots of people use it just for social networking or to talk about topics. There is a good subculture for the various RPG games out there.

Thanks for the enthusiasm! As rules get finalised I will be posting them. I have an Alpha PDF made but is is VERY hacked up. Once things get a little more defined I will put out the Beta for the world to enjoy and cretique. I do not think there is an Genesys Stargate setting besides mine yet so I want to nail it

I tend to keep my Discord game server closed off. If you are not playing something I boot you. However I will plan to post the game logs so there is some record of gameplay that goes on there.

First chapter is done. A little railroaded but we pulled through and now the adventure beyond the gate begins.

Just out of curiosity, but does your continuity not include the Goa'uld?

The Goa'uld are kicking around somewhere among the gates. I have them far more insidious but low key vs the TV shows. Essentially they are not a villain of the week so when they do show up they will have a big impact.

Also things are getting spicy in Chapter 2. I will plan to post it once the group gets though a few more encounters.

UPDATE:

The Play by Post Game has come to an end. Several players left the game making it infeasible to continue. Chapter 2 discord manuscript is located at the following GDrive Link .

This is not the end of this project. The PBP was an excellent slow burn to help me formulate and think about the setting. I will be holding upcoming Stargate games over VOIP or at the table in the next few months.

I will be planning on putting out he first beta setting document as I do more play testing.
