Sloane with Defenders

By Stefan, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

My first try at Sloane. I really want 6 TIE Defenders with her.

Name: Sloane bull
Faction: Imperial
Commander: Admiral Sloane

Assault: Most Wanted
Defense: Contested Outpost
Navigation: Superior Positions

ISD Cymoon 1 Refit (112)
• Admiral Sloane (24)
• Minister Tua (2)
• Gunnery Team (7)
• Spinal Armament (9)
• H9 Turbolasers (8)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
= 169 Points

Quasar Fire I (54)
• Taskmaster Grint (5)
• Flight Controllers (6)
• Boosted Comms (4)
• Expanded Hangar Bay (5)
= 74 Points

Gozanti Assault Carriers (28)
= 28 Points

Gozanti Assault Carriers (28)
= 28 Points

Squadrons:
• Maarek Stele (21)
• 5 x TIE Defender Squadron (80)
= 101 Points

Total Points: 400

Solid framework but I’d drop the assaults (or at least one of them) for avenger on they Cymoon. Also, you have no source of rerolls for the big guy, it would be worth adding IF for some dice help. Consider switching turbolasers to xi7 and quad batteries to pay for it? QBT buffs more than just front/rear with a more reliable die than another red, and xi7 means that after one sloane acc for the brace all of avengers damage will be forced into the defending hull zone

That would also get you a comms net for one of the now downgraded gozantis to help feed IF

Also, find the points for pursuant as slicer teams insurance

This is how it looks with my tweaks on it

Stefan’s Sloane (399/400)
Empire

Commander: Admiral Sloane

[flagship] Imperial Star Destroyer Cymoon 1 Refit (112)
- Admiral Sloane (24)
- Avenger (5)
- Electronic Counter Measures (7)
- Intensify Firepower! (6)
- Minister Tua (2)
- Quad Battery Turrets (5)
- XI7 Turbolasers (6)
- Gunnery Team (7)
= 174 total points

Quasar Fire I-class Cruiser-Carrier (54)
- Pursuant (2)
- Boosted Comms (4)
- Expanded Hangar Bay (5)
- Taskmaster Grint (5)
- Flight Controllers (6)
= 76 total points

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23)
- Comms Net (2)
= 25 total points

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23)
= 23 total points

Squadrons (101/134):
1x Maarek Stele TIE Defender Squadron (21)
5x TIE Defender Squadron (80)

Why is Pursuant so important? And A naked Gozanti is useless. I used the other ones as a cheap source of red-dice-activations. But I like the new ISD layout. I was hesitant to put a Fleet Command on there since the ISD is practically the only one to profit.

You really want to push those squads right? What happens when slicer tools runs along and hacks your command to cf/engineering? Pursuant gives you one round of slicer proof squad commands. It’s also good to plan around, as you can bait your opponent with the quasar and then nav away while still throwing squads.

And IF will actually help all of your ships, it’s just most obvious on your Cymoon-who also happens to DESPERATELY need it to bring some sort of consistency to all those red dice. Vader, DTT, Screed, Jonus/QTC are also good ways of modifying cymoon dice, but require a more significant change to the rest of the list. Incorporating IF will help up your overall damage output across the whole fleet.

And the comms net will help feed the required tokens to keep it active. The option of swapping Grint for Hondo would get you the points to upgrade the naked goz to an assault if you really wanted to, and that could CF for a reliable 2 damage with IF

Also, naked gozantis are not useless, they are a great supplement to the rest of your fleets firepower. With a double arc and a cf they are usually good for 3 damage across two attacks (especially with IF).

And post nerf there are usually plenty of other targets your opponent would rather be shooting at than the little flotillas, so they are free to get into medium range without fear of reprisal

Apart from the Cymoon, the Qasar and Gozantis don't really want to get close. That's why I had Assault Cruisers in there - more Long Range firepower. But I see your points. Thanks!

With the amount being spent on the Cymoon, I would absolutely upgrade to an ISD-II with the same points budget. Leading Shots offers better dice control. Double the squadron capacity is nice because it allows you to keep pushing squads if a carrier blows up, and makes the destroyer far more potent when you’re forced to activate it early in the round.

Or this variant of Pursuant...

Quasar Fire I (54)
• Governor Pryce (7)
• Ruthless Strategists (4)
• Expanded Hangar Bay (5)
• Boosted Comms (4)
• Pursuant (2)
= 76 Points

Professional Necromancer out.
