Ascension and Background Packages/Elite Advances

By Meridien, in Dark Heresy

After a recent conversation with my GM relating to this, most characters are drastically changed after an Ascension transition package. Most notably in insanity and corruption, now my question came down to this:

1) How does this work for characters such as those with the From Beyond trait as per the Radical's Handbook? How does such a character gain the insanity when by definition the character is immune to it? Likewise, how do Untouchables, being immune to most things which cause Corruption (with a capital C, as opposed to corruption from mundane, non-warp based sources such as radiation, virus, etc.) factor in?

2) For background packages such as the Moritat as they gift Traits, how do these relate to Ascension? Are these wiped out?

I'd prefer a response from FFG on the issue, as it seems if you allow these packages an extreme amount of power-gaming is available, but on the other hand it restricts what characters can be actually used in the Ascension system after progressing through eight ranks. Given, I found it odd that the packages often gifted insanity and corruption when a character who has staved off these things for eight ranks might just end up insane becoming an Interrogator or something akin, but that's another issue entirely.

In regards to the Insanity: Immune, simple. Sadly...

Untouchables are NOT immune to all sources of corruption. They are immune to corruption caused by warp shock. Reading a heretical tome can still net them corruption points. Despite some peoples' thoughts, that is not necessarily corruption from the warp. After all, "knowledge is power, and power corrupts."

The Moritat's background traits do not go away.

If you want a response from the game developers I would recommend using the ¦Rules Questions¦ link at the bottom of the page. It has been stated by both Ross and Sam that this is a more expedient means by which to get an official response from the staff. Additionally, posting in the Dark Heresy Rules Question forum would be another recommended step.

As for Untouchables, that's exactly what I was referring to. They're immune to warp energies but not the metaphysical aspects of corruption such as knowledge. I distinguish the two with Corruption and corruption, a difference in the source.

Anyways, thanks for the answer.
