2.0 > YT-2400 Sensor Blindspot

By Praetorate of the Empire, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I keep hearing/reading people bemoan the huge buff the YT-2400 received for 2.0. But I've reread the Sensor Blindspot a few times, which reads as follows:

"While you perform a primary weapon attack at Range 0-1, do not apply the Range 0-1 bonus AND roll one fewer attack die."

As I break this down, I read this as 4 dice primary attacks outside of Range 1, which is quite obvious. Range 0-1 primary attacks should be 2 dice. Anyone see this differently?

Figured it out.

How is subtracting 1 dice at ranges 0-1 getting you from 4 down to 2?

Whoops, logic is hard today. :P

Happens to all of us. Good flying o/

Yeah, I remember reading or hearing something from FFG talking about Dash, how he gets 4 dice at Range 2-3, but only 2 dice at Range 1, and was wondering how the math played out for that... seems like it should be 3 dice at R1, 4 at R2, and 4 at R3 (with a defender's range bonus), assuming you manage mobile turret arcs correctly...?

It is 3. They were just unclear. They meant 'works like a 2 die primary at r1'.

...then why not just say, " While you perform a primary weapon attack at Range 0-1 , roll 2 fewer attack dice?" It's just... shorter. And far less confusing.

FFG, this was supposed to be the point where you fix problematic card wording! ;)

Because this way it does what it's meant to do if a future upgrade changes the range bonus.
