2.0 Leaks and my weak willpower

By Icelom, in X-Wing

I am concerned that if the leaks continue at this rate I will lose a lot of my excitement come launch time. I love opening a new box with some surprises still inside and at the rate the leaks are coming I don’t know if there will be any surprises left for me.

Now I know what you are going to say, just don’t look at the leaked stuff….. its to hard, I am a weak man. I lasted a few days on the rebel kit full leak but I gave in eventually as the excitement and curiosity got the better of me.

So I am hopeful the leaks stop or at least slow down because I am not strong enough to stay away from the information once its out there but I want to be able to open my new conversion boxes with a sense of excitement for what I might find that has not been spoiled yet.

Unfortunately the reality is the stuff is out there and will most likely all get leaked and there is nothing I can do about it…. Maybe I can be strong when the next thing gets leaked but who am I kidding?

Anyone else feel like me? Or am I the only one who hopes to receive less information before launch?

Nah, I love leaks, bring them on. Allows me to make more informed decisions on what things to purchase and in what order.

I am 100% torn on the issue of wanting to know everything but not excited about no longer being excited in that case.

On a positive note, unless somehow we get confirmed point costs from the app, there is going to be quite a few unknowns even if we see every single card.

I do understand this from people not sure about converting to 2.0, however I plan to so am selfish in my wishes ?

Hey think about this, we still will have a whole new rule book to check out. Perhaps scenarios they aren’t telling us.

I definitely plan to as well, I just can't buy all the conversion kits at once. Knowing what's in each of them allows me to plan that out.

Yeah, the loss of anticipation can be a bummer. But, for me at least, the leaks have given me more concrete things to look forward to. Because of the Rebel Converter leak, I’m now specifically looking forward to cards like Lando crew, or Leebo’s Pilot card.

I'd prefer to see no systematic leaks. What I'd rather see are the developers playing various games of 2.0. Whatever can be gleaned from those is what we get.

I'm guessing the Leaks are seen as necessary to give the naysayers a reason not to just jump ship and sell off their collection asap. For those people it will be too late to get them back if FFG waits until August to start showing off the goods.

Hopefully 2.0 doesn't stop being fun just because we know what the cards do ahead of time.

im more concerned that Saws Renegades won't show up until August at this rate...

Its not the leaks that make me frustrated - bring 'em on. It's the length of time between knowing and being able to play (on the table with everything) that's difficult. Oh well, so be it.

@Wiredin Have you tried them out yet? They're playable in the Fly Casual X-wing simulator. Saw can really cut his opponents down. Sorry for the pun... I'll show myself out. (But he's really good, both crew + Pilot)

It's had the opposite effect on me - I was hyped for 2nd Edition but yesterday's spoilers put the nail in the coffin and now I'm boxing my x-wing stuff up to go into storage.

lol

Our friday group is pretty casual so we have been proxying the spoiled stuff. Essentially Wedge with the refit/servos with flight assist and expertise has made me drool! I love that build. allows Moldy Crow on Jan Ors too which has been really nice.

but I'd like to use them legally in tournaments. oh wait...

I'm from the opposed mindset for this, because it's not like new stuff that I want to discover... it's wanting to find out if all my old pilots made it into the game intact/at all. I don't want that to be a surprise, I want time to get over it before I have the product in my hand if I'm unhappy with one or more of them

(Please, please, pleasepleaseplease plllleeeaaaassseeeee Rexler don't get ruined...)

Personally I hope all the cards and even the rulebook all get spoiled before launch, but I hope the app and point costs don’t get released until launch. ;)

I'm at UKGE. They are demoing 2e. I'm not going to bother with the demo because I've already seen the content online and they're not making the rules available.

Meeeeh I'm not gonna learn anything about the game from 2 Ties vs an x wing, and I wouldn't even be able to ask awkward enough questions.

As a generally Scum-centric player, my major concern is the split on what has been leaked, and the resultant ratio of online content/discussion. It *feels* like 75% Rebel, 20% Imperial, and 0.1% Scum, with the remaining 4.9% of content being general 2.0 whinging. It *feels* like Rebels in general are getting huge boosts, and Imperials are doing all right, and Scum are seeing tweaks that are going to be situationally relevant, if at all. All that said, I've already got my pre-order in for Scum - and that's it for now. I would LOVE a few more leaks to see if I'm going to be excited to play 2.0 Scum jank, or is it going to remain an all-too-frequently frustrating one-shot-one-kill festival until I get my hands on still-tanky Rebels or still-tokened-up Imps. Just my two cents.

It feels like the leaks are mostly Rebel because the leaks thus far are indeed mostly rebel.

And not on purpose - the rebel conversion kit leak was not intentional, but they rolled with it and carried on doing preview games once it had happened.

I did bother with the demos in the end, but it was hilariously unbalanced in favour of Luke - they used a high-threat, good build of him against two mediocre TIEs, which were probably worth less total threat and points then him. TTBOMK literally none of the Imperial tester players won.

The full game tests we witnessed seemed much more balanced.

Anybody know where the FULL content leaks are hiding?

List form, not video commentary

How many cardboard bases per ship; which pilots are on which sides of the base token, etc?

No. Because as far as I know, we don't really have that.

The most info we have for anything has mostly been collected here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WBD6vYa6cXMFsQNdbfSK1kjQdscdsQ_aLfMTbGqRsfY/edit#

Yeah we don't have it.

Those of us who saw the conv kit at the weekend could have got the info for the Rebels, but honestly, asking Alex questions was more interesting.

I had a brief count of some of the parts, and can confirm:

2 Wild Space Fringer

2 of each B Wing generic

2 of each A Wing generic

3 of each Z generic

THat was all I actually took time to count, but I'd take a guess based on the rough numbers that each named pilot token has a generic on the back except (obviously) for the ships which have no generic pilots: the ARC, the TIE, and the 2 shuttles.

The more you know the better decision you'll have if you wish to purchase or not
